Why would a man want you to meet and spend time around his parents if he’s still unsure about you both long term?

This doesn’t make sense to me personally so ma wondering I’ve I’m misreading it. If I wasn’t sure about my future with someone then I wouldn’t want to bring them around my family so much, if at all! So if a man does this, is he hoping it’ll work out but just seeing how it goes? Or is he planning on finishing it and doesn’t see her knowing his parents as anything special?
