Why did he ghost?

So I have been talking to this guy on text for almost an year (texting once every 15 days, he stays away and are busy). He is in my city so I told I'd love to meet him. He said yes and asked when. I suggested a place and day, hours later he texted he wouldn't be able to and will let me know an alternative in sometime. Throughout this above text conversation, he took hours to respond.

That was a turn off because I was really excited to see him, given its for the first time, and he didn't seem to be excited equally, plus I can't sit around waiting for his texts for so long. So I just told him when I was available over the next few days and asked him to tell where to go, so I'll be there. And... ghosted.
