Why do I like this boy so fricking much?

Okay so, over a year ago I met this guy at a caravan park while camping. He saw me at the pool looking after my little siblings and thought I was stunning (he used that exact word). So all the kids at our camp were playing spotlight and he saw us playing and asked if he could join the game with his friend.

We spent the whole time flirting (in a jokey, fun way) while playing together and at the end of the game, he asked for my snap. We talked for a couple of weeks and he said he thought I was motherly (with my siblings), stunning, cute and he called me wifey material and stuff. He just said heaps of nice things about me and was super respectful and sweet.

We live an hour and half away from each other so we couldn’t really date. We talk on and off and one time we said we’d date once we had our licenses.

He’s so cute, tall, handsome, built, etc and he plays state football. The thing is, I’m used to these sort of guys. I’m around them all the time. I don’t know why it’s him specifically that I like.

I don’t usually fangirl over hot guys like him, but I fangirl over him. I’ve liked him consistently for a year. I don’t usually like guys this much.

What does that even mean?

Well a main thing is that when I hung out with Jalen, we had this sorta banter but it was fun and not hurtful, it was just harmlessly joking around. My boyfriend says hurtful things as a joke and it’s not fun.

Jalen complimented me and was pretty respectful and nice to me, my boyfriend isn’t like that. Jalen’s all tough, but obviously is really sensitive at the same time, I picked up on that when he had a little gush over the notebook being cute.

I feel like we just got along better than my boyfriend and I do. We’re better matched and he’s a fairly normal guy. He doesn’t try too hard, it all comes off naturally. Jalen thought I was innocent (which meant a lot to me because of things that happened when I was younger with a man) but my boyfriend thinks I’m a slut, he’s called me one heaps.

And the way he referred to me as stunning, it wasn’t hot or anything stupid like that, it was stunning. He chased me around the caravan park all day trying to get my snap haha, and then when we hung it was really nice.

I told Jalen about the man I mentioned one night while we were talking and no ones ever made me feel that validated.

I don’t know how to describe it or if I’ve put it into words clearly, but they’re just two very different people. Jalen would be so respectful of my feelings and my boyfriend isn’t. Jalen removed me and stopped talking to me for a few months when he got a girlfriend (they broke up).

@Graci_e good you have a very clear difference between the two people.

For me it’s a simply choice of giving an abusive and manipulative boyfriend one more chance, or breaking up and working out how you can develop something with this other boy.

Think with your head and about your mental health and safety.

I would like that, but he lives an hour and a half away, so that could only gonna happen in a years time once I get my Ps. I’ve kinda thought about getting Jalen’s advice on my boyfriend but I’m not 100% sure if that’s a good idea. I feel like he would be good in that instance, cause he’s pretty protective over people.

I just think that he treated you really well and that you really really like him. There is nothing wrong with that. I mean I am sure that if you both are into each other you could make something work at least even long distance if it needed to be.

If you make each other happy then that is what counts. Even if you can't see each other as much as you wished you could

Nah I realised ages ago that he is a complete douchdbag. I don’t like him, I just thought he was really cute to be honest and he is. That’s all it was.

The reason you're attracted to him is because he's so kind to you and you want that kind of positivity to replace your current boyfriend's negative influence. I just read your responses about your boyfriend and him calling you a slut is not normal behaviour. You deserve so much better and your boyfriend's only going to make you miserable. I'm not trying to tell you what to do but maybe you should end things. I really hope somehow you find a way to be with Jalen because that would be so sweet.
