Why does my boyfriend keep bringing up starting a family if he’s not ready yet?

My boyfriend always tells me how he wants to start a family with me and have kids. but every time he brings this conversation up he always says he wants to wait 2 or 3 months before we start working on having a child. he brung this conversation up again today but told me he wants to make sure we’re going to stay together why do he keep bringing up starting a family if he’s not ready yet?

How long have you been with him? A lot of people who are "sure" they are going to stay together end up having kids and still not staying together. How much more for a guy who isn't even sure you will be staying together? He's a waste of time.
