Why do I feel uncomfortable with my boyfriend wanting to be an influencer?

I’m not into social media, he is, but just as a casual user. Out of the blue, he said that this year his goal is to become a lifestyle/fitness influencer. He’s been really exposing himself on social media and he removed any traces of me from his socials (he rebranded his IG to now only having pictures of him working out, showing off his outfits, etc).

I don’t know why but this makes me feel insecure, especially since there’s 0 presence of me on his social media. I also don’t feel comfortable making videos or taking pictures with him for the sake of content. I want to be supportive but I’m very uncomfortable, what should I do? Am I reasonable for feeling this way?

You can try to reason with him and ask him why he removed you from all of his accounts, and explain why you’re uncomfortable with his flaunting around. Unfortunately the lure of popularity and fame is strong. I hope you don’t live together yet.

I did tell him that it made me uncomfortable and he flipped out at me saying that he wants this to be “his thing, his own world”. He removed me bc he wanted to start fresh but rather than making a new account he just decided to use this one since he already has over 1k followers.

We don’t live together, and I think I might have some trust issues brewing lol

He removed you because “he wanted to start fresh”? I think that may have been a Freudian slip. It almost sounds like he wants women in his DM’s not being turned off by him having a girlfriend.
I don’t want to advise you poorly or sabotage your relationship over something so seemingly minor, but social media does something to people and I’ve seen this bizarre behavior before. If I were you, I would be looking for the exit.

I actually talked to him about it (about my discomfort and the fact that he removed me from his page), he seems guilty and have even offered that I join in one his “shoots” so that I can be a part of it but I don't know how legit that was. I’ll wait until the next time he does a photoshoot

Yeah I honestly would’ve never dated him if I knew he was an influencer when we first met. This came out of nowhere tho
