Well given he’s your crush it’s natural to overanalyze and overthink everything he says or does.
My advice is to look at him as a normal guy you like and respect vs “a crush”. If you weren’t so interested in him would you be as upset he doesn’t respond to every text you sent?
Now if he is never responding or always giving one word responses then that’s a different story. But as you said he’s sometimes chatty and sometimes not. Which mean he liked you but isn’t obsessed. That isn’t a bad thing.
There can be many reasons for why he isn't responding, if i see that i got a message and dont look at it/mark it as read im mostly just busy or i need sum alone time for whatever reason
If i read it but dont respond, its because i gotta work, go somewhere, dont know how to respond, think about how i can respond without it sounding like an insult or sumthing or i dont want to respond because its just a unimportant comment on something unimportant or an stupid argument that i dont want to discuss about
Rule Number One to Everything, Stop Assuming so Often. Yes, I am not an assuming woman because I hated everytime I assumed the wrong thing. Just ask him about it, then there you'll know if there were problems he had been going through, or just being a teasing jerk, or what. Let's just say to ourselves that WE DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING and WE CAN'T JUDGE WITHOUT KNOWING the "TRUTH".
My man leaves me on read often and he pisses me off. He just hates phones though and doesn't love to text. How do I know? He moans about his sister who texts and voice notes him loads and he's like "I HATE THIS!" when we are together.
He could just like to be chill or be busy. I bet when you think about it he's chatty when he's not working and just chilling out x

Yeah the major difference between men and women is, we don't always feel the need to say something when we don't feel it's necessary. Some text just don't require an answer, and if we have nothing to add to the conversation then why just say something for the sake of it.
This can mean different things but 80% of the time, which is a lot, I think, it ain't bad. Take it from a dudes that legal names duck. Sometimes they wanna leave you unread cause they want you to miss them and not get used to having them there everyday yet

It can be. If it's an on going thing than yes. If it's only every now and then, it's possible that he's just busy and you caught him at a bad time.
I don't think so, quite often we can all just get distracted by other things. As long as he replies within 24 hours you have nothing to worry about.
Sometimes he’s busy and forgets to text. Life happens. Housecleaning, laundry, driving, unexpected situation at work or at home, etc.
The guy should message you back within 24 hours tho.
Maybe he has other things to do besides text with you all day. Don't you?
Sometimes people text to much and its a full time job responding. If I'm busy I often do not respond to heavy texters so I can actually get things done. I then respond when I have the time.
