Growing up, what were your parents attitude towards you dating and having sex before marriage?

I had the type of upbringing where I wasn't allowed to bring boyfriends to the house

In fact, I only introduced my fiancee to my family once we had decided to get married

Sex was a no no so I had to do it in secret

Was anyone else's parents strict in the same way? What age did they allow you openly date?

My mom always preferred for me to wait till marriage she never talked about it a lot till I got into high school. I was allowed to date but my mom forbids me from staying out late with a boy or bringing boys into my room. If there was a boy, she only let us stay in the living room. Thankfully for me, that wasn't an issue because I never dated any boy in highschool and I still haven't dated any guy in college so far. Boys are stupid and I am waiting for someone who doesn't just want to bang me and toss me to the road. Honestly saving for marriage is the best bet cause then you know you're with a good guy and not a horn dog.

My parents were hella strict. I had Mt first boyfriend at 16 and my parents knew nothing about him. All we did was talk on the phone anyway. He didn't come to my house until the summer after I graduated high school. I also wasn't a girl that was worried about sex. I didn't wanna do it which is why said boyfriend ended up breaking up with me lol

My parents were both liberal and conservative…so what you want as long as you don’t get in trouble and it doesn’t mess with school work…and not in the house. They legit almost kicked me out for having a girl stay over after a dance. Made no sense

They didn’t care. Its normal. To prevent it is wrong. I had a girlfriend whose Mom gave her condoms. This was early 90s. First time I goto her house she shows me condoms from Mom. Bonus !

I was told sex outside marriage was evil and was not allowed to date until I was around 22 years old.

They were very much what you’d now call Sex+ but they were also very much against children being born out of wedlock so they suggested safer alternatives to intercourse to us when we were getting to the age we’d be wanting to explore. When we were mature enough to handle intercourse it was encouraged and even expected as long as it was safe.

Sex was never discussed like that, but it was understood that you don't have sex until marriage.

My parents' rule for dating was that I could date whenever I wanted, but I had to pay for it and drive myself. None of this getting dropped off with $20 from my parents lol

They're very against sex before marriage, which is fine. They were pretty strict with dating, but they were fine with me having guys over as long as we weren't doing anything weird. The guy I ended up marrying would come over like four times a week and spend most major holidays at least part time with us lol

My mom was very hands off, she asked me one time "are you being safe?" That was pretty much it. My dad was the overprotective strict one. Daddy's little girl and all. I still would sneak boys into my room haha.
