Why are most people against long-distance relationships?

I recently saw a question and many people there said that it shouldn't take you longer than 1 or 2 weeks to meet with someone?

What if you feel a connection with that person, but they live faraway and/or don't have time to date, or don't meet anyone good, where you live? Isn't it worth waiting if the other person is unique?

It shouldn't be that difficult to find someone in your areas. Plus they just don't work, the distance fizzles out cause of distance and chances are they might click with someone else who closer anyway.

It's not a matter of being difficult, I'm just not interested in guys close my own area, they all have the same features/look, there's very little diversity. All guys I've been attracted, were tourists, foreigners or celebrities.
And that's a huge myth they don't work, according to studies lrd's have the same success rate 50-50 with normal relationships

Haters gon hate. On this site alone many folks have found success from what started as an LDR. If you both wanna make it work bad enough, it will work!

The challenge with not meeting someone within two weeks is you can grow an emotional attachment to their words.. not the person

You can talk to them on the phone, or through videochat apps though? If you have a good communication and things in common online, you'll most likely have a good communication in real life, as well

Yep and you could go years enjoying that kinda relationship. Because it’s LDR you don’t get to hug or smell their pheromones or get to take them places and enjoy quality time together. Taste, touch, and intimacy are key missing elements and unless the plan is to live close sooner than later it best to avoid an LDR. I tried an LDR and it was not worth it personally

I didn't say to wait years, but waiting a few months, is ok if you feel that person is special in my opinion

I haven't heard of many working. Military service has ruined countless relationships.
