Should I take a break from this situation , how should I go about talking to about this?

So me and this guy have been talking for about 2 months and a half. He started out very affectionate and it made me want to talk him to. Lately he has been blowing hot and cold where at times he’s loving and in person he is a gentleman, but sometimes he will disregard the affection I am trying to show by text. Part of me wants to take a break with things but I also don’t want to ignore him , but I feel like he’s too comfortable with me being around. I do want to talk to him about it but do you think shooting a text is too impersonal? Should I wait for our next hang out to talk about it? We only really hang once a week so it’s super hard to live with my feelings until that point , should I tell him I need to talk to him and ask him out to lunch?

The thing is , is I really don’t text him that often. And sometimes if I don’t converse for a little , he will double text, like today I was working (very busy) and didn’t answer for a good few hours and he did double text. I forgot to add we only see each other once a week so it’s hard. I try to hang out more but his schedule is so specific , sometimes he’s just way too tired to hang out. I don't know what to do , I’ve been stuck on ideas

Like how do I text him less without seeming like I’m drifting away from him? I don’t want him to think I’m playing games but also do want him to miss me?

I don't know what is best lol I’ve tried writing out texts in my notes on how to address things but I don’t want to come off too pushy and naggy.
