A guy I'm talking to online wanted me to meet his family on our first meeting. Is this normal for anyone who has met someone online?

A guy I met and who I've been talking to for almost a year. As friends until a couple of weeks ago. He said he was planning on asking me to Thanksgiving to meet his mom and family. We never have even established what our relationship is. He never said I was his girlfriend. I'm thinking he's had feelings for me for a lot longer than I know. But it's weird to me for our first meeting to be with his family. I told him that's too soon and would be awkward and he was okay with that. I just came out of a marriage where I was cheated on many times. I'm scared of things moving too fast. I can't even see myself getting married ever again. I'm worried that he is telling his family it's a serious relationship.

If he isn’t listening to your boundaries after making it clear it makes you feel uncomfortable, then that’s a huge issue. Seems like a lot of boundaries are being broken.

He is 10 years older than me. Moving fast might have to do with his age. But I can't do that. I learned from that mistake with my ex.

It has nothing to do with his age, it has to do with the fact that he isn’t respecting your needs which is a red flag.

He needs to tell me exactly what he is telling his poor mother. I feel bad for her because I do know a little about her. She wants him to be happy and find "The one" Which Is not going to be me since he decided to fast-track past possibly girlfriend to whatever he thinks we are.

That's a little weird, but since the context is he's inviting you over for Thanksgiving, I guess it makes sense.

In the past, I've waited 5 months before I met any family. I don't think our first meeting should be with his family members. We've never met each other in person. in my opinion He jumped way ahead.

That makes sense. It just freaks me out a little. When I was dating my ex, I didn't meet his parents for 5 months. But that was not an online relationship
