You have a little work to do on yourself, but you needn't be scared of that either. Talk to someone. No amount of people here on line telling you that you're pretty, or that you're good enough, or that "you have no reason for such low self esteem", is going to work. Please let someone help you figure out the "why", and then you can get to the "how do I stop doing it" part.
Because you are your own worst critic. Also some of the things that you notice that are wrong with you, nobody else does. Finally, he may like the things that you dislike about yourself. So you're already harsher on yourself, you notice flaws that are invisible to others, and he probably likes some things that you dislike about yourself.
