He will not respond, look at me, return a call or text all of a sudden in a brand new relationship?

We were just fine. Truly enjoying one another in the very early stages of a new relationship, just planned our first date set for next week. We had a small misunderstanding. I mean tiny, I misunderstood a text he sent and told him I was embarrassed. This man has completely shut me out all of a sudden over this very small incident. Told me “I” was way to much drama for him and will not look at me, ignores me in public, will not answer calls or texts, I have called once, text four times, knocked on his door once, no response at all. I have apologized in my text I sent and my phone message. I’m not sure if I should wait or just leave. We really hit it off but I’m kind of afraid he might have something wrong going on maybe mentally. I was sitting at a table in public he had to pass to get where he was going, this was only by chance, I had no intention of seeing him there, and he was so set forward not to look at me it was pretty painful. His look was so intense and focused as to where he would not even look at me that it was clear he either was so hurt he couldn’t stand me or that he truly hated me that much in such a tiny incident. We really we happy and truly enjoyed learning about one another.
