Do men like virgins?

I basically got rejected today because I was a virgin, was talking to a guy, and we got on the topic of it. He said that he's experienced, has matured, and said it was pointless to talk since I'm trying to figure things out. He said I was smart but didn't think we'd be compatible. So he stopped talking to me. I've been ugly crying, I really liked him... we were supposed to meet Friday morning for breakfast. Not anymore. I don't have luck with dating, I'm just ready to give up. I'm 26, is this a deal breaker for men?

It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me unless she treasured her virginity.

I wouldn't date a woman who was saving herself for marriage. I see no value in virginity or "purity". And I wouldn't consider marrying someone unless I knew that we were sexually compatible.

But I wouldn't hold virginity against her if she wanted to date me. I mean, everyone was a virgin at one time.

I will say that a lot of guys are dying to date virgins. They wouldn't consider marrying a non-virgin. So being a virgin can work in your favor if you don't want to have sex before you're married. I think that idea is crazy, but that's just me.

There's another thing, though. If a woman is ready to become sexually active (like engage in an exclusive relationship with a boyfriend), she should get on some sort of birth control like the pill. Sex isn't so great with a condom. It would suck if a condom was used for your first time. Believe me.

And even non-virgins often ask a man to get tested for STDs before engaging in sex with him the first time. Ask him if he would be willing to both get tested. It shows that you are fastidious about your body and that you don't sleep with just anyone. It's flattering to him to know that you are serious enough about him to have sex. He would admire you and feel honored. If he won't get tested, he's not a good guy.

There are billions of men, and they have different opinions. He may have done both of you a favor - compatibility is very important. If he is looking for someone for fun wild sex, he might quite reasonably assume that someone who is a virgin won't be a good match.

Some men would have taken advantage of you, told you all sorts of lies, just to score - he didn't.

I don't think most men would care that a woman is a virgin. There's a lot of guys that would also prefer it, honestly.

I would even go so far as to say that any guy who would reject a woman, specifically because she's a virgin, is most likely in the minority of men.

Don't worry too much about it; he obviously wasn't the right guy for you, and he doesn't deserve your tears. Just try to stay positive. You'll meet someone before you know it.
