Does anyone else swipe left because it makes them feel good?

I am sure this makes me a weird person but I don’t care. The point I am at in my life is I am done with dating. I don’t want to date people, get into a relationship or have casual “fun” with guys. I just mentally checked out due to all my bad experiences. I quit dating since Feb of this year. But sometimes I’ll hop on a dating app just to reject guys.

I do want to make it clear I NEVER MAKE CONTACT WITH THE GUY ABOUT GOING ON A DATE THEN GHOSTING THEM. I just swipe left/hit the x button.

It makes me so happy to do it though. I feel like it makes me feel more confident and happy about myself. But it also feels good that I doing this in away that won’t hurt anyone’s feelings.

I don’t think this is normal but maybe there are other people who do the same thing.

If it makes you feel more confident, maybe it's good. But I also think this is an unhealthy coping mechanism (not unhealthy as in bad for them, but bad for you). If it makes you feel good, it's not that bad, so do it, but try to find other ways to make you feel more confident. Because while the drawback is fairly minor, you actually are wasting a lot of people's time. They still invest time reading your profile, looking at your photos, and there was never a chance that invested time could have had a return on it. And I think that your confidence shouldn't derive from rejecting others (arguably, putting others down, whether they know it or not), it should derive from yourself directly.

But don't get me wrong, I know confidence can be a fickle thing. So if this works, don't feel bad doing it. I'd just hope you try to find other ways to build on your confidence.

I am not putting others down while I am doing it. While I do this I don’t want reach out to these guys. Part of the point is the guys don’t know.

Yes the guys look at my profile, and they are taking the time to do so. So I do agree it might be a slight waist of time for them.

But I’m the world of online dating are you really going to remember every profile you liked? That goes for guys girls and all the other genders out there:)

I do appreciate the feedback though. Yourself is definitely more thought out, even if it doesn’t support my perspective :)
