Most people understant that physical attractiveness is the primary predictor of relationship and dating success.
If a person is not physically attracted to you they will not care about your other " good " aspects as they will not be shown.
Also if you are a good looking person a lot of flaws of your character are getting ignored/not taken into account or are given a more favorable judgement.

No, an ugly guy should not avoid approaching women.
Physical attractiveness can be important in relationships, but it is not the only predictor of success.
If a person is truly interested in you, they will care about you beyond your looks and find your other good aspects appealing. If your appearance is a deal-breaker for someone, then they are not worth your time or attention.
There are people out there who will see your good side, look beyond your appearance and want to be in a relationship with you - don't let your insecurity and self-doubt hold you back.
