She only felt friends after two dates and it i'm in a state of confusion?

So I met this girl, I asked her out and our first date was good, she told me she had a really nice time and so did I. I said I really wanted to meet up again and she felt the same. I initated the second date, proposed a picknick and because she would be tired from work, I could fix the food. She thought it was cute. We meet up for the second date, have a good time. I ask most of the questions in order to get to know her better, do some touching, look into her eyes. We end up laying beside eachother, talking looking at the stars. Texted her the day after and told her it was nice hanging out with her and getting to know her better. Got a text a day and half later that said she only felt friend vibes but that it was a shame because we share a lot interests, values, I'm nice and funny. I'm nice to look at and we had a romantic date.

I got pretty sad about it, but left her a similar message to her, telling her it was a bit disappointing and thanked her for the nice words and two dates and wished her well. Right now I'm having a hard time coming to terms with this. I wish I could've asked her what made her think like that, even though it wouldn't change her mind, but more give me some explanation to why. I actually tried my best but it wasn't enough and it just sucks.
