Am I wrong for wanting to leave a guy who makes nasty jokes?

So I’m dating an older guy for the first time. He’s 34. We just started getting to know each other. So everything is fine until the other night we were on the phone and I randomly asked him if he ever dated a girl around my age because I was a bit uncomfortable with the slight age gap. He said when he was 30 he dated a 15 year old girl that he met in Jamaica. He also said he slept with her and spoiled her with money, clothes, etc. I honestly felt so sick to my stomach and so pissed off. We started going back and forth and I just kept asking why he would sleep with a child and he said at age 15-16 is the age of consent. I completely went off on him. Then he turned around and said that he was just joking and just wanted to test me to see the type of person that I am! Like why would u joke about that at your GROWN age? Am I trippin?

I don't know why you haven't already left him. Be thankful that he has give you a good warning. No good man would be able to make such a joke because the Holy Spirit and the goodness of his heart simply would never allow him to (due to who he was).

I think 'I will end up leaving him' is a dangerous statement. After all...'Death and life are in the power of the tongue..'

One can end up years later in a toxic relationship due to not taking the necessary action. Also the statement '... test me to see the type of person that I am!' sounds like some form of projection where he was really talking about himself but inadvertently telling you who he was!

I suspect he wasn't joking and just said that after he saw your reaction. His story that he was testing you is pretty questionable. I hate to condemn someone without knowing him or the full story, but this whole thing sounds off. There is really no way to know for sure.

if he’s Jamaican then that’s part of his culture. I dated a few Jamaican girls in the past and all of them told me they lost their virginity at early teenage years to older men and that was common over there
