Luke 6:45 immediately came to mind..
''A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.''
I don't know why you haven't already left him. Be thankful that he has give you a good warning. No good man would be able to make such a joke because the Holy Spirit and the goodness of his heart simply would never allow him to (due to who he was).

I suspect he wasn't joking and just said that after he saw your reaction. His story that he was testing you is pretty questionable. I hate to condemn someone without knowing him or the full story, but this whole thing sounds off. There is really no way to know for sure.

He wasn't joking. Leave him. He's like a pedophile. Move on and find the kind of decent guy you deserve.
I think there's pretty much zero chance that he meant that as a joke. That's called covering it up after he saw your reaction.

If you're questioning the relationship it would seem you aren't compatible so don't waste any more time and move on
