Who do you think gets hurts by unrequited love the most, men or women?

It has happened to me once and to my 2 female friends. We were 16 year-olds at the time but he was mature for his age. I actually did fell in love with him for both his looks and other traits such as a good, family-oriented boy, he was kind to others and liked reading and liked animals. He thanked me, said he felt flattered but wasn't interest in a romantic relationship, though we can be friends. I could tell he had a hard time saying all that.

If he would've rejected me harshly, called me bad names, acted grossed out or made a scene out of it, yeah I would've hated him forever or probably had self-esteem issues. It still hurt but much less than if he had been rude. We're still friends till this day and both of us dated others.

This happens to guys too. Who do you think gets hurts the most? The man or the woman?

I accidently choose women but I think I heard men do the most, though I say women. And as a woman, I suffered with an unrequited love. He wasn't right for me any how. It took me months to get over him. Not 100% over him, but I realized he's not what I need or want. I even finally told him that, though he never really wanted me 🫤

Honestly I think men as the amount out there that are social retards or have no clue hownto deal with women that then also put the wrong foot forward and come of as losers and have no clue how to fix it

yeah with age, they mature and know what they did wrong. It's rare for a young guy (esp if he's just a teen or maybe 19/20 year-old) to know what to do immediately.

Well, I presume it hurts the same for both parties.

But there's something about the loneliness that men go through that I don't think women can understand.

yeah it did hurt, no kidding. It hurts us too but I have to give him credit for turning me down in a kind manner, given that he was just 16 and several guys at that age can be jerks. I'm glad he never was a jerk. It he had been harsh or rude... that would've doubled the hurt. We can suffer from self-esteem issues if a man hurts our feelings.

That's bad. I can imagine if I were rejected horribly instead of the kind manner he did it, not only I would hate him but so would my friends and others. He would've been called out for being a jerk.
It's ok to not like someone back but the way someone rejects makes a big difference.

yeah it hurt me but the way the person turns you down makes a big difference. I was able to recover fast. If he had acted like a total jerk, that would've been an awful experience for me. Thanks goodness he was a gentleman in his rejection.
