i really like this guy as a freshman, but he's a junior. I've talked about him before and all my friends say stuff like "if the grades don't touch neither do you." although i don't think it's too big of a deal - we are one year apart in age. is it really that bad?
I dated Sophomore as a Senior in highschool. When we started dating, I was 17 and she was 15. But then I turned 18 and she was 15.
At the time the state laws said it was not a crime, as long as we were both in highschool and or there was no more than two years difference in age. Those laws have since then changed. Any 18-year-old dating or having sex with a minor is a crime. Regardless of the age difference.
So, no 15 to 16, is not an issue to me. But long term, if was to last, do you see yourself in college dating a junior in highschool?

He will probably be pleased that you'd like to date him.
One warning though... when he graduates two years before you, you will most likely split up, as you stay in high school and he goes away to college. In the meantime, enjoy the fun of dating.
yea because you're the same age. grades dont matter if you just have one year appart

Does he want to date you? That is an important detail which you omitted.
There is no law against a freshman dating a junior. Would your parents be okay with this?
Does anyone even know a valid definition for "dating'?
Just begin to get to know him better.
At any age people are allowed to like each other and to meet and to do things together.
When I was 16 I had a friend (girl) I was very close with. We met whenever we could.
No one (including us) gave a shit about "age gaps" or a social definition of how or why we met.
Feel responsible about what exactly you do ( :)... ) and enjoy.
Side story: one friend of mine got together with his girl when he was 14. Over time it developped. They are now married and happy since more than 45 years. An exception, but an encouraging one. There is a problem if you don't have Romeo and Juliet laws. He will be legal before you. Romeo an Juliet laws circumvent this, but not all states have them. Romeo and Juliet laws prevent statutory rapes in cases where you are dating and one of you is barely legal, while the other one is barely illegal.
So let's say the age of consent is 18 and you'll be 16 on his 18th birthday. A Romeo and Juliet law will allow you to give him birthday sex, when otherwise it would be statutory rape until you also turn 18.
That's the biggest problem with dating someone whose age is larger in highschool.First of all, you two are two schoolyears apart, despite being only one year apart. I'm just going to assume he will be turning 17 years old by the end of the 2023-2024 Schoolyear, and you won't be 16 years old until the 2024-2025 Schoolyear.
I think it's okay for you two to date, but keep in mind, many Juniors think Freshmen are too young to date.
Maybe he's something special?
Good luck.
The age difference of one year between a freshman girl and a junior guy isn't inherently problematic. However, it's important to consider factors like maturity levels, shared interests, and mutual respect in any relationship. Make sure you both feel comfortable and are on the same page about your values and boundaries. Communication is key, and if you both understand and respect each other's perspectives, it can be a positive experience.
I'm a year older than my wife. A year is nothing - even at your age. My first girlfriend was 14 and I was 15. It's not a big deal unless you make it one.
No dating for you until you're 35 years old young lady
You get back in your room and do your homework until you're 30, understood!
sure why not, it is 1 year at most apart, it could be 6 to 8 months apart.
There is nothing wrong with a 15 year-old dating a 16 year-old. The guy should be older than you anyway.
Hmmm… yeah probably avoid that. Don’t want to get some nasty cheese touch or anything
I dont see any issues with a 1 - 1.5 year age gap..
There's only one year age difference, nobody will care about that
One year is nothing. It's fine.
Whats wrong with a 15 yo girl dating a 16 yo guy?
Yea it's a good age difference
I see absolutely nothing wrong with that
Of course it is
Why not.
it's perfectly fine
It's ok to do this.
