Is it ok to be just friends with an ex?

Im friends with my ex. we dated for 7 years. I feel like being friends with an ex is always a big no for people. I really truly 100 percent think I'm just friends with him. We dont text everyday. The way we ended made me 100 percent unattracted to him sexually. He was not a great partner to me, but he's a really good guy. anyone you ask would say AMAZING friend but a terrible boyfriend. I'm super content being his friend, but I'm talking to a guy. He didn't officially say we are dating yet, but we might soon. I was talking to many guys at once. I blocked every single guy who has ever flirted with me except for my ex. Do I have to 100 percent cut contact with my ex? How do you do that to someone you've cared about for 7 years? Would you guys be hella against a girl being friends with her ex.

I'm still friends with my first ex. In fact, last time we saw each other alone, she started playing tonsil hockey with me! We haven't fucked since summer `82!
I WAS still close friends with my 2nd ex until she got REALLY pissed at me for stupid shit a few years ago. I tried to make up to her 2 years ago but she's not having any.
I WOULD still be friends with my ex-fiance had she not cheated on me, lied to me and stole from me and then accused me of trying to get into her niece's pants when, all I did was tell her that she was beautiful!
