They don’t have to say yes but don’t you think it would be better just to tell that person the honest truth that is “I’m not interested.”

No. It’s non of their business anyway. Some men don’t accept a no and will continue to try with you anyway. Some will get verbally absuive or dangerous. If you tell them you have a boyfriend usually they’ll acceot it and move along. Their make ego can’t take rejection and if they think she’s saying no because she’s taken then it’s not as personal to them.

No, there's no ethical requirement that you tell the truth. Tell them anything you like to get them to go away quietly.
