Let's say you're out in public and you see an attractive person, but you don't like what they're wearing: is it a turn off?

Ladies, you see a good looking man in sandals, cargo shorts, and a t-shirt at the grocery store or men, you see a good looking woman at the same place wearing mom jeans and a baggy shirt.

Absolutely. In my dating days there were at least a few girls that when we met up for a date I was so disappointed in how little effort they made it just turned me off to them. Gramma jeans, the same worn flip-flops they wore to the beach that day, a baggy t-shirt. Come on!



Conversely if I’m going going to go out with somebody on a date I make an effort to put my best self out there and dress accordingly. I almost never dress for comfort unless it’s a dash to the grocer or some mundane similar errand.


People just react differently when you’re dressed smartly. The world just treats a man differently in a nice, well tailored suit. Cover charges disappear, velvet ropes get opened, the upgrade happens easier, people are nicer and more outgoing, and when I was single - most importantly - the women were more outgoing and talkative.


Comfort is overrated.

Exactly, I see girls these days out on dates wearing ripped up jeans, crop tops, yoga pants, graphic tees etc. Meanwhile the guys they were with looked nice. No effort at all from women.

I think if you are interacting with a person say in line at a store, when someone throws out a line to see how responsive people are around them to talk in those waiting moments.. Clothes don't hide intelligence, personality, etc. Sure everyone wants to look presentable in public, but we all run out of milk at late hours and think "I'll just be a quick in and out". Thankfully my riding gear covers my loungewear.

Key word is outlandishly. However, clothes will HELP get you noticed but to judge a person on one wardrobe is absurd... College was sweats and hoodie or pajamas with a hat or pony tail looking like death from being hungover and those girls were STILL HAF 🔥🔥🔥

Yup, a badly dressed woman is one of the biggest turn offs. Most women these days dress like absolute garbage. Wouldn't give any of them my time. I don't care how attractive she is; a poorly put together outfit brings her down about 5 notches.

Yes actually. It can be a huge turn off. I see leather fur or wool I'm not attracted to that one bit. If they wear tons much makeup yuck long useless fake nails yuck. Over priced clothes too. I will never get why people overspend on clothes and stuff just for the "brand name". And the end middle class is making the rich richer and we dont want that.

If I saw a good-looking woman in mom jeans and a baggy shirt, I'd wonder what she's hiding (especially if she's buxom) , and I sometimes wear cargo shorts and a T-shirt-rarely sandals- but generally no, unless the person is so shabbily dressed they resemble a street person.( We attractive people often downplay our attention-getting looks in public to blend in with the crowd.)
