My Work From Home Journey, my first week so far.

I recently got hired for a remote working position for an International Hotel and Resort chain. My job is I take reservations for this particular chain of hotels. I have officially been on the job for just over a week in a training class. I will say, It is a very different world than what I'm used to, but not in the wrong way.

For one, I don't have to commute. That is a total plus. I don't have to worry about going to a vending machine or fast food for lunch, and I can cook something here at home. I can go to the fridge at lunch and make a sandwich. It's also a lot more peaceful. I am on Zoom all shift, but I can have my lighting and ambiance in the background of my office—no thumping music or yelling supervisors over the phones. I can actually hear birds and stuff while working.

I also love not having to get dressed up to go to work. I can wear my pajamas to work and not have anything said. I can keep a 64-ounce ice water jug at my desk or soda and not have to get up to refill it for the rest of the shift.

I can only think of two cons at this time. One con is I'm pretty much all by myself except for my Zoom training class, which makes it very interesting, and everyone is so chill, but I miss being around actual people, but I'm also used to it. The other con is everything is in Central time, and I live in Eastern. I know it's pretty easy to work around, but it's something I'll have to get used to.

Overall, I take this as a good opportunity as it's a job with many benefits, and it's not super hard work. I would take this over working in a restaurant again any day.
