When you graduated highschool, did you know what you wanted to do as a career?

I actually made a list of the things I did NOT want to do. Since this eliminated almost 90% of the viable career-paths available to me, it made it much easier to choose.

I graduated in 1978, which was in the middle of the Carter years, with an economy so bad that it has only recently been matched by Sleepy Joe Biden.

My goal was to attend the US Naval Academy and become a naval aviator piloting an F-14 Tomcat. That didn't happen.

Now it was time for Plan B- going to a university and becoming a civil engineer. That happened.

I've known since I was in grade school what I wanted to do, and I presently do it. I've always wanted to do something with computers. I currently work in IT. I am a systems engineer. Basically I build and manage server infrastructures. When I go to work, I don't feel like I'm working lol.

I thought I did. :) until i went to college for it... and ignored that guy who said "they don't pay as much as they do for _________" and kept going. But what made me snap, was the makers of a batman game that took 6 years to make... and still came out awful.

Lol I still don’t know, 12 years after graduation. One thing I do have clear is that I don’t want to work for a company with annoying and envious co-workers.

drug dealer or pimp were pretty much my only option. i did Ace the ASVABS and since i spoke German at the time the Marines wanted me to be in basically a spy. i think they called it games and theory or something. but im an anti government conspiracy nut. i fell back on Financial Analyst

but I did not have many choices either, so... if you have some choices then I think it is great that you're planning out... best of luck (=

Yes I did career and trade
as soon as possible I had my interview booked with Air Force and selected trade.

Didn't know until I was like 20.
I just took Gen Ed classes until i figured it out.

Yes, electronics but the school closed down before I graduated so second choice was refrigeration and a/c which I still do.
