On social media I built up a reputation of being a job hopper or job bouncer can this hurt of reputation and chances of getting hired at other places?

Is it normal to bounce from job to job in my 20's? I am worried that now that I built a reputation on face book of Job hopping and worried that because of my job bouncing and hopping reputation I built up could effect and hurt my me in the future. how can I live with the fact that I have this reputation for job hopping knowing that I have this reputation that other companies may not be likely to give me the job?

one of my friends had like 8 different jobs last year lmao. he finally found a job that works for him and the fact that he left other jobs quickly didn’t seem to affect anything.

on job applications/resume, just don’t add the jobs that you only worked a short period for. How are they gonna know? 🤷‍♂️
And I don’t believe that jobs make that big of an effort to look into your socials. They say they do but I’ve posted some questionable shit online and I’ve yet to have a job even know about it lol

I did some job hopping after COVID-1984. My former employer rehired people with all seniority, pay raises and accumulated vacation wiped out, and said there would be no overtime.

Another employer offered me $2 per hour more, said I could work 70 hour weeks, but changed me the full cost of my health care in violation of labor laws.

Within eleven months, I changed jobs again, make $6 per hour more, and filed a labor department complaint and got $4,300 in back pay from the second employer.

This job hopping means, with tips, my pay has tripled or may will go up more in a few months. Do I give a rat’s ass if someone thinks I’m a job hopper?

Delete your Facebook And they won’t know. If they ever ask say you don’t have any social media accounts make sure all social media accounts Are deleted and replaced with Accounts that don’t show you.
Or keep ‘em deleted forever.

Everything you put on social media, assume will be read by friends, enemies, current or future employers, family, exes pursuing divorce and your political opponents. Assume you will get a Supreme Court appointment and the senior senator from the opposition party will read it into the Congressional Record during your confirmation hearing.

I do not have hardly anything about myself online for this very reason. You should delete your Facebook page and any othe rsocial media that has your name tied to it.

I am in charge or hiring at my company. I would likely toss a resume that showed signs of job hopping. I don't want to waste time and literally hundreds of thousands of dollars getting someone up to speed only to see them leave the company fast. I want candidates who are going to be in it for the long haul.

Due to people like you, I not only dumb down my resume, I hide how hard working I am. If you had asked me in 2012 how many jobs I had in the previous year, my answer would have been four. I had a full time year round job, a part time year round job, and two seasonal part time jobs. I had worked all of them a minimum of three years, but someone doing a 30 second scan of my resume would see “job hopper” instead of “ass buster.”

Your definition of job hopping is incorrect. It means jumping from job to job every few months.. Not working multiple jobs at the same time or working one job and having several part time jobs. So again you made assumptions.

I think most HR departments look at the number of jobs and would never take the time to read the resume and see that it was multiple jobs and not job hopping.

Some jobs require background checks and have a legal requirement that I list every job. If they don’t, or only need the last ten years accounted for, I only list the primary job.

I haven’t gotten a job in twenty years without dumbing down my resume.

Another trend I’ve noticed, when interviewed by people in operations, I‘ve gotten offers in five of my last five interviews. When interviewed by the HR department, I can’t recall ever getting an offer.

I'm not hr.. I work in IT. specifically I am the head of the department. That is why I'm in charge of hiring. Hr doesn't handle interviewing or really anything else beyond payroll.

That’s really the way it should be. My father was hiring electrical engineers for a telecommunications company and wanted someone with a background in Crypto, encryption technology. HR did a word search for Crypto and forwarded resumes. He knew a friend had applied for the job and tracked down his resume. It said “ComSec” the military term for communications security.

It would be like looking for someone with a background in algebra and turning down an application that mentioned calculus. The HR department didn’t know what either term meant and did a word match.
