I was wrongfully terminated end of last year and just recently won an award/judgment against my employer. I’m also taking a short career break to recharge before my next role. In addition to losing my job, I also lost my best friend to cancer. So the stress compounded.
Anyway, people have been making such weird comments about “rebuilding my life” or asking if I’m “working yet” or “get your life back together.” These things are annoying because in the grand scheme of things, job loss is a normal part of the work cycle. It happens to lots of people especially now. I can’t help but feel like people get some kind of brief satisfaction out of the impact of my situation, because before I was earning really good money and succeeding. I’ll probably lose them when I do get a new job.

It's understandable to feel frustrated and annoyed by the comments and attitudes of others after experiencing a job loss and personal loss. It's important to remember that people may not always know how to respond to difficult situations, and their comments may be well-intentioned but insensitive.
However, it's also important to recognize that you have the power to control your own reactions and mindset. Instead of focusing on the negative comments or attitudes of others, try to focus on your own goals and priorities, and take the time to focus on self-care and personal growth during your career break.
It's also important to remember that true friends and supporters will stand by you regardless of your job status or financial situation. If you feel like certain people in your life are being unsupportive or judgmental, it may be worth having a conversation with them about how their comments make you feel and what kind of support you need from them.
Ultimately, it's important to remember that your worth and value as a person are not defined by your job or financial status. You are capable of rebuilding your life and achieving success and fulfillment in your own way and on your own timeline.
Are you being overly sensitive? Their question don't seem to be all that bad.
