I did both, one first and then the other...
and you are correct, starting a business is definitely plenty of work, and yes, it will require financial commitment and many times it will be the biggest obstacle, lol
and I do agree with you, if you prefer to go 9 to 5, and have a LOT MORE time to enjoy or dedicate to other things, as long as you can afford that then it is better to go this way and not mess with the stress of running a business... lol
but for those who are into it, it is worth to give a try, and it can pay off very well, eventually
Yes definitely, I'd love to have a business and earn money but there is so much more to it. I look at people like musk, bezos, jobs and it took them from ages of 20s to their 50s before they hit big. Lost a lot of money launching a business. When I clock out I rather be off. I don't want to be putting out fires In the middle of the night
yes, and they were the lucky ones... lol
many business do fail, that is true... perhaps, most of them will
personally, for me... putting out fires in the middle of the night, is mostly gone... lmao
At this point, work for someone else.
To start your own business, you need to have a unique idea, some product/service that is new or unique. You take all the risk when you start the company. You have to eat/live/sleep this company almost 24/7, any losses are on you. If it goes belly up, you suffer all the loss. If there is a lawsuit, they are coming after you... etc.
I don't have a passionate idea at the moment so working for a stable company and investing money is the way for me to go at the moment.
Same as this point I'm lazy
After years of having my own business, I'm too lazy :D
So I work for some company. I work 40hrs/week and don't care for anything else than the quality of things I do :D
I agree I rather just get my check and clock out. Business owners are working 24/7
It's true. I think I just need to rest, catch my breath and probably return to my own business... convincing stupid people in the company is not my thing...
Same
Work for someone else. I want to at least reach executive assistant to the ceo status

Work for someone else, hands down. I've done both and have had multiple businesses.
Starting your own business means you have to do everything yourself. You'll probably work long hours, for free or nearly free. And it might be a long time before making any money, especially enough to live on. It might not happen at all.
I'd rather do what I'm good at and like. Let someone else run the business and deal with customers. I'll just go to work and collect a paycheck. That's easy compared to working for yourself.
Yea, you can get rich going into business. But you can also get rich as an employee, but much more reliably, with less risk, and less headache. And if the business doesn't take off, you have much less wasted time when you could have been making money.
Start my own business for sure , which I am in process of doing with my best friend and my brother , but I sadly can’t quit my day job as of yet , but our goal is to eventually do so, if everything goes the way , we are hoping it will go.
Working for someone else just makes you a number , you don’t really have job security what so ever , a company can just can your ass for whatever reason , and easily replace you , if need be leaving you in a financial hole , that is hard as hell to get out from. I am at a point in life I am burned out , from working for other people , because I pretty much did my whole
Life. Why I am set on starting our own business , and enjoying what I do , and not listening to anybody else’s bullshit. My goal is to be my own boss and not take orders from anyone anymore. So far my dream is coming true
I could never work for someone else. I've had a bunch of different businesses. Started a new business 3 years ago and its the first business I owned with a partner. The first year always sucks but by year 4 or 5 you should have systems and staff in place that you only have to work 20-30 hours a week and make a very comfortable living.
I make 6 figure salary as worker (albeit a skilled one), small and medium business owners have downsides that people do not see.
Main one being you have to be hands on 24/7, and I mean 24/7.
People assume opening a business is a guaranteed success if you plan it well, and it will be “kick your feet up” type. You can only do that if your a corporation.
Yep exactly
I've got my own business and could never work for anyone else
You get
A day off every year
70 hour weeks
No sick or holiday pay
No retirement plan
No maternity/paternity leave
But seeing that I'll die before retirement age, never have kids and don't make anything like enough to travel it works for me
Ideally one day I'd like the control of having my own business but I am new to my career field so it is hard to say for sure. It seems like a dream for a lot of us (especially in your 20s like us) but I have seen how much extra work people have taken on for potentially much less pay. Its a tough decision no doubt
I would like to do. my own business in the future. But at the moment I favour the stability a job brings. I work for public sector so my job is secure. Whilst I have a mortgage to pay and kids to feed that is important to me
At this stage of my life I just want to work for somebody elase. Having a business is too big of a commitment.
That's how I feel, too. Way to big of a commitment. Just cut the check so I can go home. Business owners are in the clock 24/7 not interested in that
I already do own my own business. It was the best thing that I did. I love the freedom and the money. If I don't want to do a job, I'll turn it down. It is long hours sometimes but there's the reward at the end of the week.
my own, i don't wanna be someone elses pet ido it out of survival.
I do both ha. Doing your own business I feel you have to be good at switching your brain to paper work, finances and growth to the actual work. The type of business ofcourse affects that a lot
I have my own business. Harder to get going, but so much easier to make a lot more once you do.
I prefer to work. I'd rather handle things every day than handle people.
Yep!
I have had both. I prefer working for a large company that is unionized and getting great benefits and time off.
I rather work for someone.
Same I don't have time for all the book keeping.
Yeah. And there is so much responsibility and there is so much that can go wrong.
I'd rather start my own business
I.. do both👁️👃👁️
