What to do with my coworker?

When I started my job on my second day im still confused about things and I work at hospital and I interview watcher of patients for their information and for ther swabbing of covid but Im not the one who swab them I just tell them to get swab before they watch the patient if they are negative they can watch the patient if they are positive they won't watch the patient. The swabbing results will take 15 hours in our hospital. Like for example they were swabbed at 10 pm then the result will be at 3pm afternoon. And my coworker (Del) who is my shifting in the morning said to our boss that I dont even inform the patients the time of swabbing results will appear. Like she reported me. The boss told me about it that she said it. Because some of watchers are complaining that I dont inform them the time of exact release of swab results. Then today when Im on my shift the pcr asked me why this name"Smith" wasn't on watchers list but she was swabbed. I texted (Del) why she has written name of surname Smith on watchers log list (we wrote it on book) but it wasn't encode? And sent her a photo of proof. She replied "Oh sorry maam Its too many patients in the morning I forgot to encode it" I said "omg you crazy" in my language. But I didn't report her to our supervisor even though she reported me the first time. So did I do the right thing? Not reporting her? I mean she did report me the first time? Lol

Yo that Del girl sounds like a total pain. Reporting you to the boss when you just started, not cool. And then forgetting to put that name in the system after writing it down? Weak.

I get why you'd be mad she snitched on you that first time. That sucks. But you probably did the right thing not going to the supervisor again. Getting into a back and forth of reporting each other wouldn't end well.

I'd just keep my distance from her as much as you can on shifts. Be all polite and professional, but don't trust her to have your back anymore. Hold onto that evidence of her messing up too in case she tries anything again.

And don't stress, forget what Del said to the boss. You're new, everyone forgets stuff when they start a new job. As long as you're doing your actual work responsibilities now, that's what matters. They'll see she was just trying to stir up trouble.

Keep your head up! Don't let one cranky coworker get you down. Just focus on learning your job and proving yourself there.

For sure, coworkers are definitely not always your friends. at least not at a new job. you gotta feel people out first before fully trusting em.

this del girl seems like a real piece of work tho. snitching you out on your second day, super lame. but like i said, best thing is just keep doin your own thing and covering your ass. don't give her any ammo to use against you.

and yeah, important life lesson - don't assume coworkers have your back just cause you're colleagues. sometimes they'll turn on you quick if it benefits them. so just be friendly but keep things professional till you know someone better. can't be too careful who you truly trust at a new job.

but anyway, try not to stress over it too much. easier said than done i know, but just focus on doin a good job and don't let her get in your head. you'll be alright! good luck dealing with that del drama tho, sounds like a real buzzkill.

Hey by the way again on my duty someone called me (medtech) the waiver of watcher Alma wasn't written if it was Rapid antigen test or Biorad and I assumed Del forgot to write it on paper ( the ER nurse always call us about Swab type of each watcher depends on person) so I assume the ER called Del and forgot to write it. I explained I didn't find the written name of Alma in Dels watchers log list on her duty. and also she forgot to encode another watcher again surname "Farmiga" and I told Del about it on messenger but didn't tell it on our Gc cuz I dont want to shame her. And then Nika is next shift after me I told her that someone has called me about surname Alma and they were calling why her waiver paper doesn't have specific type of swab to use wether its biorad or rat. Nika said I should ask Del about it on gc I said I already chat her on dm. But I didn't tell Nika about that she forgot to encode another on computer again. Did I report her indirectly or what? Im just afraid if that caller medtech might call me Nika about Alma at least I already told them its on Dels shift since it wasn't log on book on her duty at least they have an idea its not my fault because I know Nica will blame me again if that medtech ask an update about surname Alma and since I was the last duty Nica will blame me lol. Did I do the right thing? Did I indirectly report Del? But I also didn't report her about her forgotten surname "Farmiga to encode on computer to Nica so maybe she won't still get fullly reported right.

Nah, I don't think you indirectly reported Del. You were just covering your own butt in case the medtech brought it up to Nika later. That's totally reasonable.

It sounds like Del is making these kinds of mistakes a lot, which isn't cool. But you handled it right by just telling her privately instead of calling her out in the group chat.

I probably wouldn't have even told Nika that you messaged Del about it. That's kind of letting Del know you tattled a little bit. But you had to explain in case the medtech followed up, so I get it.

As long as you're not oversharing details to Nika or the others, I don't think you did anything wrong. You didn't name names or get into specifics about Del forgetting things. Just gave enough info to cover yourself in case questions came up later.

Try not to stress too much about it. You're doing your job right. If Del keeps screwing up, that's on her. Just keep doing your best and let her mistakes speak for themselves to the others. Hopefully she gets it together!

Well yeah the reason is I dont want Del and me to have bad interactions at work even though she is reporting me first like I still cover her even though she forgets to encode things sometimes. Yeah I think its not good to call out Del on groupchat when I can text her privately through dm. Its better since Im not shaming her for not encoding watcher. Yeah I guess I shouldn't told Nika that I message Del about it. But then again its better since at least I know I asked Del about it since she was the first duty before me when medtech called and at least I told Nika that Del said she doesn't know about Alma.

Yeah, you're totally right. Creating drama at work is just gonna make everything worse. Even if Del reported you first, it's better not to retaliate and cause more issues.

Talking to her privately on DM instead of calling her out publicly was the mature way to handle it. You didn't shame her and you gave her a chance to fix her mistake without making her lose face in front of others. Good call on that.

And telling Nika you asked Del covers you in case the medtech follows up, like you said. It shows you were just trying to find the info, not throw Del under the bus.

At this point, just stay professional with Del and keep your interactions work-related only. Hopefully she'll realize starting drama won't get her anywhere. But don't give her ammo to use against you either by sharing too many details.

You're doing a good job focusing on your work without playing into that high school type nonsense. Just keep it up, luv!
