Did you get an exit interview? Was it the money or something else?

1 yI was given a hint by my wonderful, former manager, that the director over the department was unhappy with my performance... and me. And it would behoove me to find something else within a certain timeframe. She [the manager] didn't say I was going to be fired, but she did warn me I should, "consider other options."
Heard loud and clear.
I had a vacation the following week after our talk, and I spent the entire time busting my ass applying for jobs and calling in favors. By some miracle, I found a job- and got hired a few days later, lol. My new boss used to work with me and unlike the director, saw my potential and what I could bring to the department. I'm now happily employed with a State job, appreciated, and have WAY less stress than I did at my previous job.And to add to the karma, said director- laid off a year ago, LOL. They did a massive purge of "unnecessary positions" and she was one of the first ones let go. Karma is a wonderful thing.

1 yCovid shut down the entire branch, we were all laid off with apologies and best wishes. It was a small business so there wasn’t much in the ways of termination packages or exit interviews
12 ReplyI'm sure that could be a very emotional moment for everyone
It sucked but I was already prepared with a back-up job
1 yI'd done 38 years for the company, and was 56 years of age - Suddenly a department restructure was initiated, unexpectedly where in my team 1 of 3 people was being cut.
The other 2 were younger and fresh in career, so one of them was likely to be terminated - but I realised that this was my chance to get out early with a good payout - and being over 55, I could draw my pension straight away - so I put my hand up to go - and left the other 2 safe to continue with their careers...
So I'm retired at 56, no debt or mortgage, but with a Motorhome and a Sports car 🥳02 ReplyThat's some real man shit. Gotta know when to cash in the chips and pass the torch.

1 yI was on contract and the contract ran out. My last several jobs were on contract. I was usually asked to stay longer and renew the contract. But since I was usually out-of-state and living in a motel, I chose not to. I intentionally took short term contracts and didn't usually renew them.
The last company I worked for was a company and job I really liked. I also really liked the co-workers and the pay. If it had been local I would have stayed long term. But I did not want to move to that location.
12 ReplyThat's painful. Hope you find the right place to settle down when the time comes.

I'm retired now. But I did contract work by choice. I liked working for different companies and in different locations. I also learned a lot more that way.
AI Opinion
I left my previous job to seek new challenges and opportunities for growth. It was important to align my career path with my evolving interests and skills. While compensation is always a factor, it wasn't the primary reason for my decision. During the exit interview, I expressed my gratitude for the experiences and learning I gained. This move allows me to contribute to new projects and enhance my professional development.

1 yThe company was downsizing, and I was basically given the choice of relocating or taking a buyout. I took the buyout because I didn't want to relocate at the time. I had relocated with them 3 times before and I didn't want to do it again.
10 Reply 433 opinions shared on Education & Career topic. Contract ended.
Was just stressful and annoying. Money was okay, but no amount could make me stay.

Didn’t have a choice , company decided to close down my office and laid me off with a decent severance , but sadly the job market just sucks , I am having such a hard time landing a job , it’s been a friggin nightmare
12 ReplyMy brother is having a hard time too. And he's an electrician. Very young, but a kid who worked all his life barely can't even find a job bussing tables right now. It's sickening.

Anonymous(18-24)1 yWas a live in nanny. I was fired by the mother because when they were away at night and the children were in bed I would sneak into their room to use her huge selection of sex toys. Anyway she found out because her husband had installed secret cameras all over the home to catch her cheating and she had caught her husband masturbating to videos of me using her toys, like there must have been a lot because I was there for over a year and they were gone a lot.
Anyway it all came out that yes I shouldn't have been masturbating on the job with her toys and I recorded it and I got an agreement arranged with my lawyer sister that I wouldn't go to police because her husband had cameras in my bedroom and in bathrooms and had been pleasuring himself to me and I was underage. I got $80,000 for college and the camera hard drives destroyed.

The money is better, I work from home and I learn additional stuff.
I gave them a month of notice (also trained the new replacement) while simultaneously I was undergoing training at my current job.00 Reply- 1.3K opinions shared on Education & Career topic.
1 yLack of work, substandard pay and benefits and 3 years of being lied to and watching them hire new people for the roles I wanted
11 ReplyYea you should never stay at a place that doesn't treat you right if you have plans on moving up.
Money and nothing else. I was honest in my exit interview. It was double pay and I wouldn't even have let them try to match. It wouldn't have been fair. Great company. I went to a not so great place.
10 ReplyGot a physical burnout so I was a burden on the company. I'm at a much healthier job now. They were very thankless for how hard I worked all things considered.
