I have decided to do a quicker and more condensed version of my Halloween picks.
21. House – 1986 / House 2 : The second Story – 1987
This is a fun bunch of movies but the second one is much less serious and more humorous than the first.
22. The Watcher in the Woods – 1980
This is a family friendly ghost themed perfect companion for something wicked this way comes.
23. Glee: "The Rocky Horror Glee Show" - 2010
This is a fun Halloween themed special. Given it's not exactly Halloween, but I am sure it was released around October time with that intent, which was October 26th. This is more sexual themed but then again, so was the original movie.
24. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein – 1948
A family friendly comedy starring Universal's Original movie monsters, why not?
25. The Blob – 1988
While the original blob could be watched with the kids, the remake goes a little bit darker. If I remember right it acts like acid, devouring the body. You don't want that kind of blob on your clothes!
26. Fright Night – 1985/ Fright Night 2 - 1988
This is a very classic 80's vampire movie. But it is before CGI Special effects when movie studio's had to be creative and use makeup over computers. The effect was terrifying and nightmare fuel. The first is more a journey of getting one vampire neighbor while the second is getting a sensual female vampire.
27. The Lost Boys – 1987
This is going onto yet another classic 1980's vampire movie. One which I am sure most of have heard of. But if you have not seen it, it is worth a visit and if you have, it could be worth a revisit. Basically one where California beach combers are vampires. This has funny moments but it is probably not for the kiddies.
28. Monster House – 2006
This is clearly a kids movie but it has charm and wit. This clearly was not cgi's best moment but it clearly has a place on this list. Mainly because it is a haunted house that has a soul. It also has some fun voice actors attached to it too. My favorite quote which was probably mentioned in the trailer.
"Jenny : There!
[waves flashlight at chandelier]
Jenny : Well, if those are the teeth, and that's the tongue, then that must be the uvula!
Chowder : Oh, so it's a *girl* house...
Jenny : [looks at him] *What?*"
29. Lady In white – 1988
The ghost effects are great in this movie. and the story has a lot of heart and it is compelling to watch. But I'm quite sure if its a kids movie. Given it's simply about murder, but having a kid come close to being murdered and watching one, while done shadows, being murdered. I think it is one where during certain one or two scenes you might have to shield the eyes.
30. Tales from the Darkside, the episode, Halloween Candy- 1985
This last one is pretty similar to the trick or treat one. You have a Halloween scrooge that is visited by a monster and is given his just desserts. A pretty fun and creepy episode done by a professional horror makeup artist.
and here is a review of all the one's I have done before this.
