As a member of the older generation that has been following the anime since Day One, I am shocked that PCI have the guts to end a winning formula but business head aside SPOILER WARNING Having Faced all the champions minus Alder but at the time of the Masters 8 Iris had beaten him and had fixture all travel companions minus Max and May also Having Paul and Gary, Ash's too strongest rivals have mentoring role for Ash and Goh. I personally don't see how they write the anime after winning against Leon, We would call them out as lazy writers if they back tracked by saying the Paldeian champion is the very best there is and is much stronger then Leon. If that was the case why didn't they enter the masters 8 have them replace Alain. I think it's the right time to start from scratch and have a brand new generation to the series and have them follow for the next 26 years like I have with Ash. Is it Wise No because it could sink the anime but it seems to work with other big anime like Beyblade. It started with Tyson (OG, Vforce and Grevolution) then Ginga (Metal Series) and Now Volt (Burst Series), Yugioh Does with every new game mechanic. I am sad to see him leave but I can't fault them for doing it.
