From my experience, there are more girls that want to dance the night away than guys.

I'm not talking about professional dancers like in these videos, I mean just everyday people going to the the night clubs that have dancing.

What has your experience been?

What a great question! I'm fascinated by this topic. I think it goes to the essential difference between men and women. It's like asking what is the meaning of life. .
In response, all I have are observations and speculations. Also, it goes without saying that all answers are general and don't apply to all men or women.
So here goes. I'm gonna try winging some random (and probably rambling) personal thoughts.

I, personally don't like to dance. I'll do it to please my wife, but I don't really enjoy it. I realize that dance can be seen as a physical activity like, I don't know, ... rock climbing, skateboarding, basketball, aerobics, yoga or whatever. Some forms of dance like jumping up and down to head banger or rave music can be really good aerobic exercise. That can be fun because no dance "style" is involved. What I don't like is learning dance moves. Do I really want to watch myself in a mirror to see if my moves and poses look macho man or a spastic. I can't see the point other than to court a girl.

Slow dancing can be nice, though, when a man and a woman hold each other close and gaze into each other's eyes or the woman rests her cheek on the mans shoulder as they sway romantically.

I can't help but see most forms of dance as other than a fashion show or a courtship ritual. I think about flamenco, tango, salsa, and movies like Dirty Dancing or Saturday Night Fever for fuck's sake. They are dance "routines". They are not spontaneous. The guy poses and postures like a peacock and displays sexual attraction toward his partner. Dances like Texas Two Step, line dancing, waltz and even the numerous 50s and 60s dances like the twist, the mashed potato, etc. involve learning specific moves. The thing is, girls can do just about anything and look cute and sexy. If a guy does it wrong he looks gay or retarded.

Most women LOVE to dance. There may be a several reasons.
1) Whereas men are more self contained and independent, women are more into cooperation and consensus. Dance embodies those two things.
2) Dance is an opportunity for women to be athletic. While many men regularly engage in fairly strenuous physical activity, the same is not the case for most women. Women get turned on by watching men doing rough, strenuous, physical things. Dance is a safe physical activity that women can engage in. It's where they can show off their athleticism and flexibility. Dance and sex are two areas where women can be bad asses and compete physically with men on an equal basis.
3) Women love to get dressed up and look pretty. God love 'em. Going out to dance is an opportunity to show off and be the center of attention. They want to be admired. I think they would love nothing more than to have the crowd part and a spotlight focused on them like in movies as they and their partner dazzle everyone with complex sensual and stylish dance moves
4) In dance, women get spun, lifted up, dipped and tossed around. It's thrilling. I think that's similar to their necessarily submissive yet athletic and actively participatory behavior during sex. The woman can feel as small as a bird and as light as a feather compared to her powerful and virile man.

For a girl to dance in general she just has to wear skimpy clothing and wiggle her ass and tits and most people will thinks she’s an ok dancer when she has absolutely no skill or rhythm. For a guy to dance, he’s got to put in like 2+ years of practice daily to be considered ok by the average person. Even as a guy, if you tear down the house, people will tend to laugh at you at first… For example I remember participating in a talent show in high school. A friend was spitting a rap and he wanted backup dancers… So a few of us went and bboyed for him. The people that were on stage before us got the floor wet and when I started my top rock I slipped but caught myself so my rhythm was off like 2 seconds and everyone giggled for like 10-20 seconds, but I recovered and kept going and did back to back power moves with some freezes and footwork thrown in and the crowd went so nuts that when I watched the video back the camera was shaking. You really got to sell it as a guy, unless people already know who you are as a dancer...

I love dancing, and have begged my boyfriend time and time again to dance with me at parties. He did once, and he could not dance at all. It was cute to be honest. He permits me to go dance with my girlfriends without him usually. Or I stay by his side.

I wish more guys were into it - him particularly, but for now, I am content dancing with my girlfriends!

When I was a kid in the `60's my aunt and her best friend taught me every dance there was and I was VERY good at them!! I continued dancing up a storm until one day, I was on my front porch trying to come up with a kind of routine for a Monkees song called, "I'll Be Back Upon My Feet". That'd be around `67 or `68. Suddenly, this really cute red-haired girl I knew from school (I don't think I ever knew her name) was walking by on the other side of the street and was watching me and when I noticed that, I got REALLY shy and just froze up and stopped dancing forever more then and there on that very spot! I don't think I ever saw her again after that, either.
I SUSPECT I actually did see her twice more a few decades later a block from here! And, boy was she built!! VERY pretty, too!!

First lots of guys dont know how to dance, second they feel stupid, why because of the third reason, dance is a way to express your emotion very visible one if you feel strength your dance will be firm, powerful, confident if you feel bad your dance would be like that also. But because men dont like to express their feelings too much that is why they dont like to dance and on the other side you have emotional beings like women who express their emotions and dont have problem dancing because of that. Also women have better mental health because rhey know when and how to express their emotions that is why they are mentally stable, while man have raw power and that is our disadvantage, because we dont know how to chanel it, like throught dance 😊

I never get into that mood, dancing is something that you need to do with feel and such.

Most times, it seems stupid to me. I also despise club music, and most stuff people dance to, these days. They are just noises.

I can lose my mind in a Liquid Tension Experiment concert, but a club or a beach with salsa music never gets to me.

My sense of rhytm, melody and generally music does not fit with it.

I listen to this sort of music generally. Makes most dancing tunes as meaningless noises with no dynamic to my ears.

I think a lot of men believe women will judge them on how they dance, and men certainly don’t tell their friends they’re dancing well.

By contrast I feel like I see women telling each other positive feedback plus to some extent of women just kind of move their ass and tits men think they dance well.

If women think any man randomly shaking his dick looks great, they’ve managed to keep it a secret well.

Dancing means something different to guys then girls. It's subconscious and is tightly linked to male hierarchy (though most guys probably aren't aware of it).
Some interesting facts, a good dancer is usually also a good fighter (Bruce Lee was also a competition cha cha cha dancer us a good example) anlso a good dancer is probably also good in bed. Here's an interesting video on it...

It's very simple evolutionary psychology. Men have a bigger risk/reward for dancing.

Dancing evolved as a peaceful way to show that you are a good fighter. It requires the same skills as fighting - strength, balance, coordination, endurance, and predicting another's moves. Females aren't sought after for their ability to fight, nor are they seen as bad partners if they cannot fight. The risk/reward for men is much higher.

I've never liked dancing, but I have back and leg problems that lead me to be more sedentary in general. I go to a very gay-friendly church, and a number of months ago, we celebrated are 20th anniversary. There was dancing, but for most of it only one guy (who is openly gay, but he wasn't doing couple dancing with his boyfriend) was dancing, and it was mostly just women dancing together. He is a good dancer, though, and when the choir is asked to move, this guy's movements are the most eye-catching, jerky and Ray Bolger-ish..

In some countries and cultures, everybody dances and starts doing so at an early age. In the US, dancing isn't considered very "manly", it's just a means to get with girls. Some girls however, will "judge" a guy not just by his looks by how well he "moves" and his rhythm on the dance floor. If he moves well on the floor, maybe he moves well in bed. Hmm? Makes sense, because I know guys think the same thing about women.

Personally I enjoy the classic dances best because I own those, but hiphop and other styles are also fun to dance.

For me specifically it will be because she does not have super sonic hearing, i don't like dancing as much because i do not like going to places where you can go out and dance. The music will be literally painfully loud for me, and being in extreme pain is not a fun way of going out.

I think there is something mildly sexual (or sometimes no so mild - grinding anyone?) about dancing. Women seem to be more in tune to the emotional aspects of music and this may lead to why they often tend to like dancing more then men ( and also why they seem to learn faster than men ).

I also think that one of the reason women go ape shit over a man that can dance is because on some weird level they assume that prowess on the dance floor translates to prowess in the bed room.
