I'd say it's the whiplashes. I think they would be a more fun enemy to fight if they had the same offensive capabilities but could take as much punishment as the prowlers.The gargoyles could do you in pretty quickly with their slash attacks. Thankfully they're also glass cannons so they're not to hard to kill but they can still get you good if you get careless.
Everyone talks about Marauders but even on nightmare, they're not that hard to deal with. But whiplashes are so infuriating; they're to Doom Eternal what the Pinkies were to Doom 2016 for most people.
Although speaking of which, one thing I've noticed when looking at Doom 2016 gameplay footage on YT is how few people actually realized that you had to shoot the pinkies from behind to take them down. I mean I actually saw people hit the pinkies with the stun bomb and then just keep spamming shots from the super shotgun or guass cannon to their head. Like seriously, you have them immobilized, hit them from behind.
