+1 yDjango Unchained. He did such an amazing job there being the villain and I really gained so much respect for him as an actor.
I also liked The Man in the Iron mask and The Gangs of New York, because I like period pieces and of course the Revenant (he totally deserved the Oscar he won for that movie)
Overall, he's a pretty versatile actor and rocks every role he plays20 Reply

The Wolf of Wall Street , I have that tune in my head now! Haha

+1 yDjango Unchained followed by Gangs of New York (even though he was bad in it, Daniel-Day Lewis was amazing) and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The Beach was also kind of interesting to me.

Gangs of New York. I think Leo was miscast in this one. He's a great actor but I think he was too upstaged by Daniel Day-Lewis:

Did someone mention the Gangs of New York? I feel that's a pretty underrated film. Yes Daniel Day Lewis was amazing as the Butcher in it

@artstatues I think Gangs of New York is extremely underrated! It might even be one of my favorite Scorsese films. I noticed your answer and I also love period pieces (I'm one of those who doesn't care so much whether it's historically accurate, I just like the history to ground the fiction enough to a point where it doesn't feel like a purely made-up world).

That's cool
What are some of your favorite period pieces? - +1 y
@artstatues Rome (TV series: 2005), Spartacus (also TV series: 2010), Braveheart (I don't mind that it's borderline propaganda according to history buffs), Kingdom of Heaven (DC), Gladiator, Gangs of New York, The Reckoning (2003), Brimstone (2016), The King (2019), The Name of the Rose, Quest for Fire, Ravenous (if it counts; includes horror and the supernatural), Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, Inglorious Basterds (I'm a Tarantino fan), Bone Tomahawk, The Hour of the Pig, Agora, ... those are some of my favorites off the top of my head.
- +1 y
@artstatues The Reckoning is one I rarely ever see talked about. It's only got a 6.5 rating on IMDB but I thought it was still very nice, and I don't exactly find the largest list of historical fiction set in 14th century England:

I think he would have been amazing in American Psycho but I also think Christian Bale was epic. I'm imagining Leo being a little less subtle in how expresses his feelings in that role, although maybe just as interesting that way.
- +1 y
... well, I'm thinking about it a bit more and I still think it's hard to top Christian Bale as a character so hollow and empty inside that his only sense of identity is what he possesses, and also Christian Bale got in epic shape for that role to reflect the vanity of his character which I'm not sure Leo would have been able to pull off as well.

I can definitely imagine him perfectly doing the psychotic parts you described!
+1 yDjango Unchained, Gatsby, Gangs of New York, and The Revenant are my favourite films where he was starring.

Didn't you forget shutter Island or his more recent, dad bod film - don't look up? Lol. He also had that weird movie blood diamond, gangs of New York, the quick and the dead, man in the iron mask. , Lol

+1 yI would say "The Aviator". He did a good job of getting the nervous tics and mannerisms of a then young Howard Hughes down pat. (Watch old newsreels and see for yourself - Leonardo DiCaprio did a good job).

+1 yAn easy one for me.

As good as he was in it. . . Tom Hardy was next level.

Titanic was a great role,
some say there should be a sequel, where jack survives and comesback.

+1 yCatch Me If You Can is an interesting movie based on true life. I really like Leo's "innocent" scene with Jennifer Garner.

IIRC, that was based upon an account of Frank Abagnale seducing Cheryl Tiegs (who was one of the supermodels of the day) with his counterfeit money.
+1 yInception, full stop. Can't stand to watch him in anything else. Especially knowing he's in bed with the Reptilians these days.
10 ReplyFor me it´s Inception because I like the concept of using a person´s imagination and dreams to create a story.
10 ReplyI have only seen Titanic by him so yeah I will go for Titanic.

The Aviator, definitely that one, because he really did mimic Howard Hughes well.

+1 yNone. I used to like the guy. Usually I can still appreciate a great actor even if I dislike them in real life, but DiCaprio is a con man and it disgusts me.
