Typical Hollywood and British cinema nowadays likes to kill off iconic fictional heroes for no reason except for Cheap shock value. They already killed off James Bond in “No Time to die”.
What’s to say they won’t do the same to Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones 5 which is supposed to primarily take place in the 1960s. The thing is though that the Indiana Jones character originally lives on into the 1990s at least but they edited out Old Indiana Jones in the rerelease of the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles for some reason.George Hall as “Old Indiana Jones” in the 1990s as portrayed in the “Young Indiana Jones Chronicles”

I suspect so. See, it's not just about cheap shock value, it's also about changing cultural ideas, and political movements rising and falling. Compare the old Star Trek TOS with the new generation of films: they're much slower and more character-driven; the new ones are all fast, loud, and flashy, with less by way of substance, and more of explosions and boobs.
Ordinarily, I'd say it's just more of an attempt to appeal to as broad a market as possible (overseas entertainment consumption makes up a HUGE chunk of market share), and it simply backfires because if it's broad enough to appeal to everyone, it's not deep enough to appeal to *any*one (look at anime in the US: the closer it hews to Japanese cultural norms, the more Americans fail to understand it, but the deeper the attraction and loyalty in the customers who stick with it- it's the same for the rest of the world with American stuff), but in this case, I think there's something more sinister afoot. Remember who's running Lucasfilm, after all. And what she did with the LAST franchise she gained control over.
It's not just that. It's trying to tear down the old male archetypal heroes. They can't build new ones, and the ones they make imitating the old are nowhere near as compelling, because- well, partly because they're lousy writers, mostly because they're lousy storytellers, but most immediately, because they're not allowed to show weakness. Consider the moment in the Last Jedi when Rey falls into the pool of water in the cave. Logically, a desert-bound hermit who's spent her whole life in that place isn't going to be a strong swimmer, and that's through no moral failing of her own- she never had a CHANCE to be any better. You could reap precious Victimhood Points from that. Or you could do something interesting with her knowing how to swim, but not understanding how. But no- she simply does, because she's not allowed to fail.
I doubt that they’ll kill him off, there’s no need. Wouldn’t the fan base just prefer the guy to live out a nice live somewhere? Hey children and grandchildren mean the possibility of more movies in the future, “Indiana Jones The Third, and The Curse of The Temple of Terror!” or something like that?

No, depending on how well Indy 5 does, Harrison Ford may still have an Indy 6 in his future. Of course, he could die in 5 and make done miraculous comeback in 6.
I'm surprised they are making it. Uiud think the whole concept of India Jones a white wealthy American male in the 20s and 30s traveling the globe stealing from non white natives and being sexist towards women.

If they listen to what Harrison Ford wants with his characters, they'll kill him or wrap up his story. That is the main reason Han Solo died in Stat Wars, Harrison Ford wanted his character to die.
