What are your top favorite books you've read recently?

Juniper and Thorn by Ava Reid - (grim, twisted, and delicious)
The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson - (just brilliant)
You've Reached Sam by Dustin Thao - (so beautiful and so, so sad)

First on my list is "Normal People" by Sally Rooney. I couldn't put this book down. The characters are so relatable and the way the story unfolds is just so damn good. It's a love story, but it's also so much more than that. It's about the complexities of relationships and how people navigate them. I found myself really invested in the characters and their journey.

Next up is "The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah. This book is a historical fiction novel that takes place during WWII. It's a heart-wrenching story about two sisters and the sacrifices they make for each other and their country. It's a real tear-jerker, but it's also incredibly powerful. The writing is stunning and the characters are so well-developed. I couldn't help but feel a deep emotional connection to the story.

Last but not least is "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood. This is a classic dystopian novel that's still just as relevant today as it was when it was first published. The story takes place in a society where women have no rights and are treated as property. It's a chilling reminder of what can happen when we take our freedom for granted. The writing is superb and the story is so thought-provoking. It's definitely a book that will stick with me for a long time.

Sorry the ones I’m reading or planning to read are smut based. ZA not so much but RB for sure. I’m half way through ZA8 and nervous to finish because there’s going to be a #9. If smut is your deal and you don’t like cliffhangers/being angry/having your soul crushed don’t read ZA until it’s finished. RB is set before ZA and it’s finished the series after is called Darkmore penitentiary and it’s not finished either.

Family of Liars and We Were Liars by e. Lockhart. Haunting. EXQUISITE writing. Poignant for me personally.

A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. Elegant. Memory laden. Forcing you to think.

Upstairs at the White House by J. B. West. Mr. West was the Chief Usher in the White House for 12 of his 28 years serving 6 presidents. Fascinating first hand view into the White House and the first families.

Barons of the Sea by Steven Ujifusa.

Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes. The writing really is brilliant. Lyrical. They are fast reads. The narrative and prose will not demand much of you, it's the characters and their actions that will make you think and think and think again.
