What movie is completely overrated in your opinion?

In my opinion it would be Basic Instinct. I watched it a couple of nights ago, never watched it before and while it's not a bad movie, I found it quite meh.

I think it got the attention that it has pretty much only for the shock value and for the fact you can glimpse Sharon Stone's fifi for a half-second. None of the characters were likeable and I couldn't root for any of them.

Wife says that a German movie explored the concept better in the 1980s, but for her everything German is better so I don't know how much water her statement holds.

I have to admit that I haven't seen it.

However, I have seen "The Age of Innocence" and it is definitely overrated.
I like Daniel Day-Lewis as an actor, but not once in any of his movies did I ever believe his character was in love; regarding love, this guy just can't act and/or is given shitty direction.

Man too many to name. But honestly a lot of the films that kept making sequel after sequel were overrated. Twilight, Hunger Games, Bond films, Scream, Die Hard, Fast & Furious, Batman, Resident Evil, Lord of the Rings, Mission Impossible, Oceans, Step Up, Star Wars, Alien, Xmen, Blade, Spiderman, Avengers, Pitch Black, Jaws, Harry Potter, etc have maybe 2-3 good films in the whole franchise and the rest just disappointed. Movies like The Hobbit, Shrek, Final Destination, Back 2 the Future, Jurassic Park/World (except for one) had several great films and were not a disappointment.

@TrueConfection no im saying Pitch Black was good butt the sequels were not. A lot of the other films i named had 2-3 good ones in the series but the rest were bad. For example, Harry Potters first 4 films were amazing then it went downhill in my opinion. I still can't even get through the first LoTR to watch the sequels but the Hobbit was consistent throughout all 3 prequel films and i enjoyed it very much

I tried to sit through re-watching it as an adult but found it boring that he just stands there even in broad daylight. I guess the horror/thriller factor I get from it is the fact that he wears a mask and just stalks without saying a word.

I found it to be really boring as all fuck. But my bros were going shit happy about it. I watched it because they told me it didn't have much SJW stuff... so I watched it.

I was so fucking bored trying to get myself into it... the plane stuff was cool... but all the drama shit and love story shit... bored me out of my mind.

I am so glad nobody can talk me into watching that 2nd Avitar movie... there is no way in hell after I walked out of the first one for being so lame.

I think that is a generational thing. A talked to a guy on reddit who said he thinks The Shining is the best movie ever made. I don't agree with that at all but I don't think it's crap either. It isn't the same vibe as a slasher. It is about a man slowly going insane as he is consumed by a supernatural entity which is a place rather than a thing or a creature. If that doesn't appeal to you, you'll naturally find it boring.

It is also quite dated. That's why I think it is a generational thing.

In the book the house is more a creature it drives him to feed it like other previous guests. In fact it's theorised it could be IT but that's mostly what King writes about is a creature that feeds off fear or something half his stories you can just saw it was IT with it making sense. But tbh I love this and remember his books are in the same universe.
That's what mostly attracts me to his books. The films however are very hit or miss and often don't do what the book did. I think the shinning ending in the film is somewhat better but other than that yeah the book.

One was way too long despite creative and the other had such potential with its great soundtrack/plot/actors but was just not that interesting of a film overall in comparison to his cameo in Civil War. I didn't care to see a sequel for Avatar nor BP. Then i watch Wakanda Forever and its even worse but this time no great soundtrack and a very botched plot
