I couldn't care less about the Activists and Whiners, oops, I mean Actors and Writers. I imagine it's harder on the stage hands and trades people who have to try to make ends meet on the normal 9-5 salary, they at least have my sympathy. As for the rest, You've had 5 months to get a job.
I care because I work in the industry and it's a total shitshow that I don't think people really understand. It's a unique environment and unlike any other professional area. The celebs are only there to support and put pressure on the people in charge, it's normal people who get thrown under the bus. Working above the line only benefits a handful of creatives who have a name. Everyone who works under the line has to deal with their own shit end of the stick.
What you have to realize about the TV/film industry is that there are THOUSANDS and thousands more talented people in the country that want to work in it and push out good stuff for the audiences. There are more people than there are realistic spots for it. Employers know there are people scratching at the door to get it, and that creates a market where they can treat people as badly as they want - and that's why a union is so important in our case. Looking for job's only ad after ad stating, "No compensation but exposure to people! Gain experience!" People like to take advantage of artists and for some inane reason, people also think they deserve it.

Its a double edged sword. On one hand these people deserve fair compensation. They do have families to support after all.
But on the other hand they are absolutely terrible at writing good stories so why pay them for doing a terrible job.
I've seen YOUTUBE creaters write far better scripts than hollywood does. And these youtubers barely get table scraps in change. Most don't get paid at all.
Nah i just do not care. Its literally people with multi million dollar salaries bitching about not making enough money. No sympathy. None of these people have ever known true hardship like a welfare Christmas..

No, if there are too many people working in that field, then the extras need to go find some other way to earn a living.
I heard they get $500 a week strike pay, no wonder they still out!!!
I feel bad for the writers. Actors not sure.
