No, I blame the policy of FDA's deregulation of Genetically Modified Organisms to be allowed for use in our foods during the 1990's.

I was born in 1976, so I was well into my mid to late teens before GMO's were commonplace in our foods. I was like one of the very last generations born and raised on Non-GMO foods.

In the early 90's inflation was killing the economy, and cost for food was soring. So the deregulated the food industry, because the use of Non-GMO were cheaper to product, the need for more Non-GMO would increase the need for more production and economic development.

Less than 10 years later, we start having all these increases in ADD /ADHD and then Autism, and childhood obesity. I believe more than ever; these two things are linked. Common fact, whole foods and organic food is more expensive. The more Non-GMO food has the cheaper it is, and more affordable it is... and the unhealthier it is.

It's hard to blame 50s and 60s commercials for diabetes almost quadrupling since 1980.

I blame all the sugar that's in everything, and serious lack of exercise. A bottle of Coke was 10 ounces when I was a kid. Then it was 12 ounces. Then 16 ounces. A coke at a restaurant was maybe 8-10 ounces, which was mostly ice, with no refills. Then they came out with free refills at restaurants. Not to mention big gulp uber sized fountain drinks at all the gas stations - don't forget to grab a couple of hot dogs while you're there.

In the end, people are responsible for their own health. They choose to eat or drink that stuff. They choose to not get any exercise. They are basically choosing a slow suicide. They KNOW they are eating wrong and do it anyway. They KNOW they should exercise and don't do it.
