Am I the only one who can enjoy old games much more than new games?

Almost all the PS1 and PS2 games are much better than ps4-5 games to me. Because they had much more emotions, and great stories and music, and new games are always looking similar to each other, and just realistic and always look same crap to me. But even old graphics are much fun.

I have not played any computer games since switching over to Apple instead of Microsoft cause Microsoft gives out free games with a computer purchase and Apple does not allow non apple products to be used on their computer. I did play neopets but I don’t count that as a traditional game. In high school, I loved computer games like Clyde’s Adventure. My best friend and I would play the game together on her computer every weekend and we would always die very early in the game but even though we were terrible at the game, we loved playing it and would try over and over again to beat it.

New games are like, “we’re gonna get it 90% there but the remaining 10% is not about it being a legitimately fun game, we’re gonna try to addict you instead.”

So the game does all this weird gymnastics to make you second guess yourself, to get you to play another and another… when really, it’s just manipulating you and the experience itself. A glorified slot machine. It all looks great on the surface, but it’s either buggy or unfinished, or there’s nefarious stuff happening under the hood. And then they just expect you to not realize it.

Old games were just what they were… they had to be finished by the time they hit shelves, they were straight up fun. Winners won and losers lost. Not over-engineered to extract more time and money out of you.

Mass Effect Trilogy and Paper Mario. I don't play much else.

I enjoy my Dune2000 and Settlers IV... :D I never used console for playing. I use my PC

I enjoy all. Can no longer play my PS1 and PS2, but I still have my PS3.

Then you got companies like Puppet Combo who intentionally make their games in a PS1 style. So far, the only game I have played by them is Bloodwash.

There is also Chilla's Art, who purposely makes their games look like PS2 graphics. Unfortunately I don't think any of their games are on console.
