There are some motivational quotes that had sticked with me.
Such as this one: Just choose your challenge. Every path you take will have its own difficulties, so simply select the struggles you're willing to endure and embrace the obstacles that come with them.
This was actually what inspired me to start reading the Vorkosigan saga. I was looking through a list of inspirational quotes, and I kept finding more and more of them from this series (which at that point a few people had recommended to me), and eventually I thought "I can't read these books; this list is building up such a wonderful vision in my mind, reality can't live up to it".
Then I found even MORE, and figured "screw it; I have to know". And aside from the fifteenth book (note: if an author ever thinks "You know what this saga needs more of? Annoying children and mildly racist stereotypes!", someone needs to take their writing implements away until they come to their senses) and the seventeenth (which not only featured a retcon that rose to the level of character assassination, but wasted a corker of a title on a book that didn't have an actual plot), it actually DOES live up to it.

If you are reading inspirational quotes superimposed on a beautiful landscape photo, you are an idiot.
The bible talks a lot about wisdom and I believe that wisdom is not limited to a single religious book or social tradition but that accepting it is paramount even if it comes from a different faith or culture or ethnic tradition. I also think wisdom can be learned implicitly so that you can follow it without even being aware you are practicing it.
The ones I see on social media just remind me of “live, laugh, love” most of the time so it doesn’t really resonate with me.
But seeing responses to writing prompts and those stories? Those inspire me plenty. There’s a part of me that still can’t get over The God of Arepo story that was on tumblr so long ago.

Absolutely. I tend to find an appeal in historical personalities rather than any current pop celebrities or athletes. People who have overcome daunting and seemingly insurmountable odds, for a greater good. I’m less interested in someone who achieved a personal glory or milestone as one with a broad impact on society or civilization as a whole.
Not usually. It has to be extraordinarily compelling to even get my full attention, let alone make me stop and think.
Most of that stuff is just contrived refrigerator magnet jibber jabber. Ell oh ell!
Yes, some do inspire or give perspectives that bolster my mindset.
But I often talk in metaphores, (selfmade or quotes). So it happens that they pop up and I'll be better at gettinh deep-end points through that way.
Most of those rather make me feel bored - the same schmaltzy sauce over and over again... published by some amateurs.
I like how they picture something through words, but it doesn't leave me inspired at all. To inspire, I need to see the right person achieve or work to something I strive towards
No, it creates an inflated sense of self. Uplifts your ego. Thats narcissistic.
