Valentine's Day

His parents won't let him date? what do I do? and what about Valentine's Day?!

Some time in December one of my new friends from school asked me over text if I liked him as more than a friend...of course I answered yes because that's how I truly feel... but after a few deep conversations he texts me and says that he's really sorry but his parents found out that he likes me and as long as he's under their roof he's not allowed to date... at first I totally thought that this was a load of crap but he seemed to be really sincere. we've continued talking and we even went a little further with the relationship but still nothing official. and one day we were hanging out and someone walks by and asks if we were going out and we both didn't know how to answer and finally he says "not yet" ... he's told me many times that he likes me and I definitely like him and I don't want him to go against his parents so I'm trying to understand...is this relationship ever gonna exist or should I just try to stay friends...also v-day is coming up and since we really aren't official I don't know what to get him...or even if he's thought about what to get me for valentines day...i could some advice so anything is helpful...
