My ex boyfriend's flatmate (and friend) is hitting on me...

so I broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years a fortnight back. his friend keeps on calling and messaging me everyday and asks me to hang out with him. yesterday he invited me to a pub. I told him that perhaps his friend (my ex) would not like it at all. but he retorted "whats the need to tell him anything". though I am really angry with my ex and everything... would it be too bad a thing to do if I go out with his friend... ? and ii don't even want to be rude to my ex's friend because he is a sweet guy...and he keeps on telling me what "gr8 friends" we r... so I feel bad refusing him.

First of all; would you like to spend time with him? If so, then you do not have to avoid him just because he is a friend of your ex-boyfriend. However, meeting up with him just because you feel bad refusing him or to anger your ex-boyfriend is not a good reason.

Personally, I would only continue to spend time with him if we already were friends (before me and my boyfriend broke up).

If you actually like his flatmate and would geniually want to go out with him then go for it, your single now so enjoy it. But don't go out with him because you feel bad refusing him or want to p*ss off you ex.

What an asshole. I think you should tell your ex what his friend is doing because that is so disrespectful. I would never date one of my friends girls because I find that as one of the most disrespectful things I could do to somebody. I say that even though he is a nice guy you should tell him that it's not right and look for somebody else.
