I've been thinking about this quite a lot recently, my circle of friends changed so much in the last four years, I'm at a loss for words when it comes to that to be honest.
I used to have four close friends, with whom I spent quite a lot of time with, but as time progressed, life happened - here's an example: one of my friend's parents got divorced, she moved 200km away, then back again.
When she came back, we did a lot together, slept at each other's place etc, had the same mutual friends but were besties more or less.
And then I transferred to another school, I started cutting myself, told her, she laughed about it and believed me when I said that it was just a game, when really it grew into an addiction that dominated my life. Her stepsister had huge personal problems because she had an affair with her married male best friend, so my friend had to take care of her.
I was gone for three weeks on holiday, and when I returned, things had changed between us, I had realised that I had always been the driving force in all friendships and just stopped suggesting things we could do together.
The friendship broke apart.
She got married in 2019, she's my age, which I found quite shocking. We had talked about getting married for more than 10 years and she didn't invite me to her wedding because we had led separate lives for about two years before. Still, I wonder, what would have happened if I hadn't focused on bettering myself?
I had a great time, not going to lie, and due to no longer having close friends, I have good grades.
