At 12 a kid's too young to be sure of his sexuality. I mean what if he realises he was wrong later on? It even happens to fully grown adults with experience. Think about a kid who's barely a teen.
I don't think a regular 12 y/o is conscious or mature enough to go through transformation. Why don't the parents realise that?
Maybe the father always wanted a daughter so is making it happen. Frankly he has no brains if he lets a kid that young decide. Even grandpa is not liking it.
The problem isn't the gender change, it's the age. If you aren't old enough to buy a beer, what makes you think your old enough to make a very major decision like changing your gender. Being on the fence about it or experimenting at that age is fine but legally changing gender? Hormone treatment? Surgery? Decisions that drastic shouldn't be made by a 12 year old, their mind isn't even fully developed yet.
accept it and allow it to a certain degree...
What I mean is don't go straight on to hormone treatments but allow them to express how they feel in other less permanent or damaging ways... like how they dress, hair etc... then if it isn't just a phase when they get older the parent and the child will know for sure.

Im not a psychologist. All i can say is that whoever he or she decides to be, they should be loved and accepted.

Thats your opinion, but its not your body. I could tell peopls with tatoos the same thing, you're body is fine leave it alone you dont need to make any changes like a tattoo, but its their body if they aren't happy with how it looks for whatever reason they have the freedom to change it.

I think the whole gender identity schtick is stupid, regardless of age. You can change your gender just as much as you can change your race or age. Society shouldn't be encouraging this.
There are measurable physiological differences. You can't change your gender, you can change your body to match it, if you need to, these days.

@goaded no you can't, no matter how many surgeries you have you will not have a uterus that bleeds every month or bears children, you will not have xx chromosomes, you can be either fully male or fully female, whenever someone goes through transformation they just end up being half of each. you can stay in your own body, learn to love it but express yourself how a female would.
Most of the women in my family would call not having periods a bonus. Why not let the people involved decide for themselves, and stop judging them?

Absolutely not. If 12 year olds are too young to drink, smoke, have sex, what makes you think they're ready to make a huge decision like this? Their brain isn't fully developed at that age. 16-17 should be the bare minimum age someone should be able to change their gender.
I am certain that a 12 year old is too young to know who they are. Hell, I'm not sure I know who I am yet.
As a parent I can see the difficulty. You want to support your kid and not inflict the trauma we are told young transgender people experience from not being accepted.
However, 12 is certainly too young to make irrevocable surgical changes.

Twelve is pretty young to make big decisions like that, but it is also when everyone is growing up and someone starts to realize who they are. I think that it is perfectly fine.
Also, she did not see her being male as a flaw. She saw it as not her. There is a difference between a flaw in yourself, and something that you just aren’t.
seeing it as not her is seeing it as a flaw. if he decided he did not see himself as black and wanted to go through procedures to bleach his skin and change his facial structure would that be a healthy decision? or should he accept his race and learn to love it because he is perfectly fine the way he is just needs to change perception. same with his gender crisis.

We don’t let them join the military or take substances or get tattoo or watch horror movies or porn, but apparently people are fine letting them fuck up their bodies hormones instead of heroine. It’s bullshit.
I use to be against it but since having kids I realized that I would do anything to make them happy. Most people with gender identity issues are very suicidal and I'd much rather have a trans child then have no child at all.
You cannot support a wrong and damaging decision out of fear. You can help them through this, if they are suicidal a sex change might not help with their depression. They need to deal with what is happening and learn how to love themselves, such drastic changes are not necessary at such young age.

Thinking they are in the wrong body is the same, and learning to accept it and love it is way healthier than mutilating themselves with dangerous and invasive surgeries, it's unnatural. I hope your children don't develop any unhealthy habits because apparently you're just gonna accept them all
Have you looked at the data? Most people who get the operative treatments regret it (overwhelmingly so for FtoM transitions), and the suicide rate is about the same. It's higher in some circumstances, but not enough to really matter so it's easier to say it's about the same.
