My example: throughout my life I've had 6 cats total (actually more but I was so young I don't remember them that well). 1 of my cats likes having his belly rubbed.
1 out of 6 = 17%.
How about you?
I don't own any cats, but I like them and if given an opportunity, I will try to pet them. That being said, I do have stray cats roaming around my yard and the place I work at. Some of them are tame and come up for pets. There's one female cat at work that I found on the way to work, when it was pretty much a baby, and took it with me at work, and she has now hanged around my spot for nearly two years. She is waiting for me every morning. I pet her, and she seems to be rolling when I pet her and my hand ends up on her b3lly, and she doesn't seem to mind it. On the contrary she stretches her legs and lays back.
Two of the cats that roam around my yard also come up for pets regularly, neither lets me pet their belly or touch their tail. They instantly try to bite me.
My wife and I have had 7 cats (not all at the same time) since we've been married. Five are no longer with us.
One amazing cat that we got from a rescue shelter when she was older, would roll over for a belly rub.
The kitty that I saved moments from certain death in the middle of a busy highway when she was 5 weeks old, and lived to be 22 years old, liked to have her belly gently rubbed when she was lying on her side.
We have a Burmese cat now named Coco who is okay with getting belly rubbed when she is lying on her side.
And our newest kitty, a 6 month old, fluffy, marmelade-orange male, will roll onto his back for full tummy rubs.
With cats, you just have to be careful not to tickle them. They hate that.
I think Cat Marvin might sorta like it for a while... but then he will get overstimulated and bite my hand. But my mom has a tiny yorkie who is smaller than a cat and LOVES having his belly rubbed. You put him between your knees and you can rub his little belly forever. And we won't move a muscle. lol.
I've had 2 cats and they both loved it. My stepmother is weird and her 3 weird cats didn't like them at all.

they schizo on me. they go like, "prrarararrghghrrarrgghhh" and i think they like it, so i keep doing it. then they stretch their arms and look so relaxed. den all of a sudden with half of them, they grab my hand with their claws and start wanting to play with da hand and swat it like a toy
then i get my hand and arm all bloodied and scratched up and am like, wtf. psycho cat
well most of my experience is with da stray and feral ones. indoor ones might be better

Obviously cats are more wary of belly ribs then head rubs, but I usually get them to trust me enough to enjoy belly rubs with enough time (the only one who didn't wasn't in the house for long)
Although some cats love belly runs anytime from anyone, I think in general it shows the cat trusts or even likes you
100% i am not gonna class this other cat i had cause he just didn't like been touched anywhere no pats no nothing because of an abusive home so cannot really class him.
My parents have a cat that likes his belly rubbed, and will roll over for it if you start scratching his head. He's the only one out of a dozen or more over the years that likes belly rubs.
Yesss, both of them enjoy belly rubs.
Very few cats I've known liked a belly rub enough to not bite my hand off.
Half of my cats did. 50% (2 of 4)
The ones who didn't prefer it were female.
Roly and Shybaby loved it.
Fiona and Slippers preferred backscratches.
I've never had a cat, but of the cats I've petted, I don't remember giving them a belly rub 🤔
cats don't like it when you rub their belly. They show you their belly to signal they trust you as thats them at their most vulnerable. if you pet it this is abusing the trust so they hate this and bite you. Best rub their neck.
I've always been around cats and it depends. Sometimes they like it and other times they dont. It also depends in how affectionate your cat is.
2 out of 4 of my cats love it, they are so freaking adorable!
I never owned a cat and I'm definitely not planning on ever wasting my money on one
I never had a cat but my cockatiel literally can't get enough head rubs.
Almost all my cats loved the belly rub. Including my two now
I saw a lion that enjoyed belly rubs...
It's still a cat.
I have a Bombay black with yellow eyes and she will flip down and go belly up waiting for her belly rubs. She does this constantly.
Cats are reluctant to enjoy belly rubs, they instinctively don't want to present their stomach for a predator.
Every cat I have ever rubbed on the belly has scratched me. So it's 6 out of 6 scratches for me.
Out of all 3 of my cats, only one likes belly rubs. The other 2 will bite me when I try to.
I have only had one cat that liked his belly rubbing, the others scratched me.
