What is the best way to respond to friends who throw subtle digs & shade at you?

For example: someone compliments your hair or your look of the day.
Before you can even say thank you... The friend who is standing next to you, replies to the person who gave you a compliment and quickly says something like "the hair is fake" or "it's because of the make-up" .

Or if you talk about dressing up or trying out make-up looks, they would say stuff like "Oh I don't feel the need to do that" . "Oh I don't like doing this ______ (said thing) because it's effort, but I like to look etc". But they will turn around and says they do like doing ______ said thing when other friends talk about liking _____ (said thing)

just be happy with your preferences and give them no attention over their self righteousness because giving them attention makes them think you care about what they say as if it is meaningful, when really it is just putting someone else down to feel better about themself

It might be jealousy from them, so do nothing much, let it be... what they do or say, is not about you but their own issues, don't give them a reaction, and they will get tired of choking on their own jeaosu soon enough. Don't let it bother you.
