Why are older people less adventurous?

My coworkers and I were talking about what our plans were for Memorial Day. All my older coworkers had no plans Ans quite honestly didn’t want to have any plans. Most just want to do nothing and stay home with their kids. One of them was invited to a barbecue but didn’t even want to go

meanwhile young coworkers in 20s are all thinking about vacation trips , six flags, sleepovers , road trips. We were all happy we get to have fun. Meanwhile all the older people just didn’t really want to do anything at all.

It is not that we are not as adventurous but rather it is because we tend to be more likely to correctly observe Memorial day which is to honor our deceased loved ones by visiting their graves and leaving flowers. Memorial day is not for going out to have fun, going to the beach etc.

From my experience, I don't have to do anything to relax. When I was younger I over did most things. I am 53 and I don't bounce back like I did when I was younger. All that I am doing for the Memorial Day weekend is taking my boat out and fishing.

I disagree, I have fun with the things that make me happy.

My t-shirt that I am wearing says it perfectly. It reads.
I used to be a people person. Then people ruined it.

And I don't need to be social to have a good time. But you wouldn't understand this because you are young.

It’s because you simply don’t have the same energy levels as before. Everyone needs a social life. Loneliness is very common amongst old people

@aliali8 you may want to check yourself, because I am not lonely, and I can guarantee that in energy I would outlast your energy in which you are half my age. Tell me did you hike a total of 100 miles wearing a 190 pound backpack Friday and Saturday. I am willing to bet your answer being no so so before you make a broad statement about me being lonely and having no energy is an assumption in which you are wrong.

Probably cause they were adventurous in there younger days and now they wanna rest. Most holidays are for resting anyways. I personally never go out of my way to do stuff on hoildays since I hate crowds, I'd rather just stay home and chill.

Because as you get older, your body starts to wear. You get tired and sore, so nothing sounds better than having a day to finally just sit down and do nothing. You'll see when you get older.

It's one thing that I 'complain' about as well, sometimes. Many people reduce their energy- and activity level from a certain age onwards... they 'become old' early.
But -to me- this is not so much on the side of ''social life fun and vacation'' (your words).

Then, there are the others who do live their 'adventures' - but YOU will not see them, because ''we'' are not interested in the silly and shallow distractions of the ''youngster'' ( provocation alert :D ).
''We'' are found just somewhere else.

I am 50. I did all that when i was young too. I have a house and used to work full time before the pandemic. I think I would look pretty pathetic hanging out in bars trying to pick up girls.
