My personal experience is that step mom's can turn out to be bad.
And there is a huge dynamic. If the marriage is new, the stepmom will be very good in everyway to the stepkids. She wants to ensure her place within the marriage and not cause problems.
As time goes by, she can change. She might be become more demanding and become abusive to get the upper hand on the kids she sees as disrespecting her.
The real challenge will be if she has her own kids, and if she see the stepkids treating her kid negatively. That's when witch comes out. And she will do her best to abuse and chase away the stepkids if they pose a threat to her child.
No, a lot of stepmothers really love their stepchildren and raise them as their own.

Most stepmoms are okay. A couple of my friends have stepmoms and they have a great relationship.
Women in general are not fit in any dominant role. They need submission to be happy
