Confronted my friend about her putting me down and now she said I’ve embarrassed her?

I finally confronted my best friend about her belittling me about my appearance which makes me feel bad. I sent her a text saying “I don’t know if you realise but sometimes you say things which come off as shady about my body and looks and it feels like a dig.” And she’s replied with “why are you attacking me with this when I’m already going through so much” and she says I’ve “embarrassed” her by confronting her about this. And apparently she’s told her boyfriend that I’m “being mean” by saying this. Am I in the wrong?

That is a very narcissistic response from her. Unless you said some other things that you didn’t mention here, then there is NO attack in sight. You were very straightforward in telling her how you feel, and rather than acknowledge that, she sees that as you being mean and stuff. Maybe she’s not good at taking accountability, or would rather play the victim because she feels like that was confrontational. Who knows. But if right now is the wrong time, there will never be a right one. Why? Because you can’t express yourself without her lashing out, which is very toxic. So from may perspective, not only were you not wrong, but you may want to reconsider that friendship altogether.

Honestly if that’s going to be her response to you saying how you feel then she’s probably not a good friend. I mean this girl is literally body shaming and bullying you, then when you ask her to stop, you’re the mean one? Absolutely ridiculous, you deserve a much better friend in your life.
